Great Wolf!

We like to make it a point every year to go away and do something fun in the summer.  I grew up having summer vacations each year and whether they were big or small, they are some of my very favorite memories of my childhood.  This year was sort of tricky since we have a newborn, but we decided to go anyway.  We actually planned the trip before I had Ezra and thought it would be simple to just tote him around with us.  But, my Mom encouraged me to leave Ezra with her for the couple of days we were going to be away (since it was a giant indoor water park and Ezra can't go swimming), and to spend some time focusing on Levi. I didn't want to, and it took me a few weeks to give in to the idea. We decided it would be in his best interest, and the thought of giving Levi some one-on-one time was great.  They both need it every now and then.  My Mom kept Levi for a few days leading up to his birthday party and it was nice focusing solely on Ezra for those days.  We had never had any alone time with just him, so it was extra special.  And these few days with Levi last week were just as precious.  But, it always feels so weird when we just have one, and when we come together again, all is right in the world. :)

We went to Kansas City for two nights and stayed at The Great Wolf Lodge.  It's the COOLEST place for children!  It is a kid centered hotel and indoor water park.  It's pretty incredible!  It is themed around wolves and bears and all things critters, so it was right up Levi's alley.  He had an absolute blast, and we are so glad we took him!  He really deserved this little trip.

The night we arrived, the park was closed, but he peeked in and was giddy with excitement!

We hit the ground running the next day and swam, swam, swam!

The rooms are so neat.  They are a child's dream!  We had a camping themed room, and Levi had his own little "room".  Fun!

We dined in the Critter Cafe in the lodge for lunch one day, and with a kids meal, they get wolf ears and a tail.  What fun!  Levi was OBSESSED with his.

The lodge has all kinds of things for kids to do: the water park, (of course), a giant game room/arcade (think Chuck E Cheese), crafts and scheduled activities each day, a wolf walk every morning, and then story time at the clock tower each night.  Story time is cute because the kids come down in their jammies.  Levi refused to wear his, though.  HA!

Oh, and there is a treat shop with ice cream and other homemade goodies.  Yummy!

Now, if you have a little boy, you MUST MUST MUST go to the T Rex restaurant.  I know several cities have them, but we had never been to one.  Think Rainforest Cafe, but dinosaur version.  Levi was in heaven.

It was really awesome.  Husby and I had as much fun as Weebie!

There is even an area where the kids can excavate fossils! :)

Fun place.

We had a great time, and we can't wait to go back when Ezra gets a little bigger!

  5. That all looks awesome! My husband and I have always wanted to go to Great Wolf Lodge...but we don't have any kids yet and feel like we would probably look like weirdos going without a child. One day!
