Real Life: The Fridge.

When we were getting our house ready to sell, our realtor came over for the initial meeting.  She loved the house, complimented how I decorate/style, and said she didn't see any need to change anything - to keep it like we had it.

Oh, except for one thing.

Take the art work and magnets off the fridge.

:)

I had neatly arranged the front of the fridge before she came, but she wanted everything gone.  The precious little painted hand prints of my youngest?  Gone.  The endearing house drawn by my eldest?  Ditch it.  The family photo that is sure to get an "awwww" from house lookers?  You may as well BURN IT!

Okay, she didn't exactly say that, but she implied it.

So, I did what she said and cleared off the fridge.  It was weird walking into the kitchen and not seeing traces of my children hanging around (well, except for their actual paw prints everywhere).  I didn't like it.  I'm a mom and a mom's fridge is the one spot in the house to proudly display her children's masterpieces.

Can I get an AMEN?

So, you guys.  I was happy to get to Erie and not have to worry about people trying to buy my house and not because of my crowded fridge.  ;)

Um, but I miss MY fridge.  Our townhouse came with one and it's not my favorite.  But, it was nice not to have to haul ours.

Here she is in all her glory:  The Mom Fridge.

I have to weed it when it gets too overflowing, but the little sentiments of family I see each time I pass it makes me happy.  Love notes from Husby, school projects from my Levi, fingerpaint prints by my baby, notes from family who have mailed us things... my fridge may look cluttered and messy, but it's bursting with love!

And cookie dough.

Definitely bursting with cookie dough.

:)

What's your fridge look like - simple & clean or chaos & full?

  1. Goodness...your realtor would have coronary if she saw my fridge! I love it's messy celebration of my boys. Makes me smile. There's even a few pictures of my nieces and nephews...I don't see them often.

  2. That is why I can't put my house on the market. Part of my fridge is a huge, magnetic calendar with all our stuff for the month on it and the other part is all pictures, etc from my kids.

  3. Full and happy! I mean, I keep Christmas cards up from family and friends until new ones come! Love a fridge that you can't even tell is a fridge!

  4. Very full! I have pictures, my calendar, etc... covering mine. I can't stand for it to not have anything on it.

  5. Ok I'm breaking the trend here...mine is bare!!! I have a peg board inside my walk in pantry for invitations/cards/pictures, and then we have a standing freezer and a fridge/freezer in our garage that I've started covering in the boys creations. That way I can have my zen fridge inside and the outside ones (which we see every time we come and go or play outside) are all theirs!

  6. My old house had a fridge covered in love, but my new house has stainless steel appliances, so magnets don't really work. My older kids don't bring much home from school, but my little guy does--I need to find a place to display his stuff!!

  7. Definitely full! The children are so proud when they have done a picture that I deem fridge-worthy! My fridge is full of pictures by my eldest three and as my four-month old is too young to contribute, I still have his scan picture up there. Love my fridge, it shows how very blessed I am!

  8. My fridge is an under the counter style one so instead I display my son's artwork on the kitchen cupboards! It brightens the place up :) I cannot wait until my 13 month old is old enough to add her pieces too!
