Five.

(This letter has been half written for a week, but I haven't had a chance to finish it until now. Also, not a free moment to take his 5 year photos yet, either!  I'll take and post those later, and we'll just pretend they're part of this post.) :)

My Levi,

You are five!  How can this be?  It feels I was only pregnant with you days ago and yet, it feels like I've had you forever.  What would this world be without you, child?  I simply cannot imagine a time before you ... for you have changed me forever!  You, my love, are a world changer.  You're different.  You're special.  You have a calling.

How I love watching you grow!

In my wildest dreams, I could never have dreamt up a child like you, Levi.  I've never known such kindness or genuineness in a person.  I've never seen such a tender heart, such a joyful spirit, or such maturity in a little person.  I've always known that you were born with wisdom.  Wisdom far beyond your years, my boy.  And how we pray that you use that God given gift for His kingdom!

This past year has been such a great one spent with you.  You and I completed your first year of homeschool (PreK), and it was such a joy and honor to teach you, help you, and watch you learn.  Absolutely amazing! You are such a bright little one.  You grasp concepts quickly and then never forget them.  You are reading wonderfully, and you really love math and art.  You are such a good student that you make teaching you a breeze!  I've never been a teacher, so I've never known the joy that comes with watching school concepts "click" with a child.  It's pretty incredible and I just feel so blessed that we had the experience of this past year - we both grew and learned SO much, and it was such a sweet, special time.  One I will never forget and hold close to my heart.  I can hardly wait for next year! :)

You are growing and flourishing into such a splendid little person.  You are all of your little buddies best friend, and you befriend all those around you.  I've stood from a distance and seen your friends fight over who gets to sit by you.  You are a natural born leader, and one who makes everyone around you feel so special...so loved.  Everyone wants to be your friend!  From the time you could speak, you have never met a stranger, and that still rings true to your 5 year old self.  You will always be my little conversationalist, and oh how I love our discussions!  Whether it be a heart to heart, or a silly story about aliens, you will always be one of my very most favorite people to talk to.

You continue to be the best big brother that any child could ever have.  You are the most patient and gentle brother I have ever seen in my life!  There are times that I hear things going on in the other room and I think to myself, "if I were Levi, I would have very well lost my cool by now," but you approach your little brother with grace that astounds me (and teaches me!).  You love him beautifully, and it is loud and clear that you are Ezra's most favorite person in all the land.  He loves you, copies you, admires you, and adores you. What an excellent example you are to him!  I feel like I should have 5 more babies just so those children would have the privilege of having you as a big brother.  You are a blessing, Levi Alan.

You are an encourager by nature, and you seem to always say just the right thing at the right time, which I find unusual for a child.  You are very aware of your surroundings, and are naturally in tune with other people's feelings.  We've always called you our little Barnabas.  You have a knack for putting smiles on faces, lifting spirits and filling joy in hearts.

Some of your favorite things right now are .... (I asked you these!):  Super Mario Brothers, Ninja Turtles, Star Wars, every and all games, books, riding your bike, water guns, picnics, superheroes, legos, pajamas, DS3, Angry Birds, being outside playing and exploring, Incredible Pizza, honey crisp apples, grilled cheeses, chocolate chip cookies, BBQ chips, any and all candy, Sprite, grapes, spinach on top of chicken, helping me bake, watering the flowers, night time snacks, play dates, Chick-Fil-A, going to family's houses, water balloons, popsicles, and Disney World.

Though this past year was absolutely wonderful and I grew to know and love you better and more, several special moments stand out as my favorite.  And those are the moments spent with you and Daddy as you asked us questions about Jesus and what it means to love Him and serve Him with your life.  We spent many a night on the bottom of your bunk, with no lights on except for your nightlight, discussing what you know to be true about Jesus and ultimately leading to your decision to follow Him.  There is nothing you have done in your little life that has made your Daddy and I more proud.  And we can't wait to continue encouraging you along in your walk with the Lord.

Oh, my Levi.  I could write a novel on the little person that you are and what you mean to all that know you.  But, I must put up the computer and tuck you into bed ... kissing your soft little head and holding your warm little hand as you drift off into sleepy town.

You've given me the best 5 years of my life.

I love you more than you could ever comprehend.

Love,
Mommy
