The Diamond Saga Continues.

The other night, I crashed into bed around midnight and when I laid my head on my pillow, I realized I still had my diamond studs in.  I have a little jewelry dish on my nightstand that I keep lip balm, lotion, etc. on, so I took out my studs and laid them in the dish.  I do this often because these particular earrings are so comfortable, I rarely realized they're in until I lay down at night.

The next morning I was sitting on the couch putting on my makeup and Ezra brought me something off of my nightstand.  He loves to do this.  I took it, told him thank you, and kept getting ready.

Half an hour later or so, I was in my closet trying to find something to wear and suddenly remembered the diamond studs on my nightstand.  Um.  Ezra had been playing by my nightstand.

Panic ensues.

I ran to the jewelry dish, pushing everything around trying to find my earrings and I just found one.

C. R. U. D.

I fell to the floor, searching under the bed, under the table ... everywhere.

Nothing.

"Ezra, did you take one of these earrings?"

"Yes!"

"Where did you put it?"

"In the toilet."

ARE YOU KIDDING ME, CHILD?

I half laughed, half panicked because he told me days before that he put my wedding ring in the toilet, which he did not, so I had a glimmer of hope that he was just joking.  Again.  But then I thought what if he actually DID put it in the toilet this time since that's what he so clearly associated my diamonds with.

Levi promptly ran to where he stood to pray when my wedding ring drama was taking place and he began to pray, "Dear Jesus, please let us find Mommy's earring.  Just like you let us find her wedding ring, please let us find her earring."

I had somewhere to be, so I stopped my earring hunt and went to meet up with my parents.

"I'm sending this one home with you today," I announced when I saw them.

I told them of my morning woes and my Dad started questioning Ezra.

"Did you put Mommy's earring in the trashcan?"

"No.  In the toilet."

GOOD.  GRIEF.

I tried to not let it bother me the rest of the day, but it did.  I heard Levi praying about it several times in the backseat throughout our day.  He told me he just knew we were going to find it.  Because he was praying.

When we got back to my house, my Mom and I began the search for the missing earring and I'm not kidding, within 3 minutes, she said, "is this it?"  My dresser has a tiny little arch at the bottom of it, and she reached her hand back as far as it would go, and wouldn't you know - there sat my diamond earring.  I have absolutely NO idea how it went under there.

I screamed!  Levi just smiled and nodded his head saying, "I told you we would find it, Mommy."

:)

Note to self: get a jewelry box with a pad lock.

STAT.

  1. These posts are a reminder to me that I need to actually put jewelry away. Anything good is almost always on the treadmill (the little shelf where normal people put a water bottle) in the kids playroom. Probably not a good idea. So glad you found everything!

  2. So glad you've found all your jewelry! Have you tried a toilet seat lock like one of these? They are a lot cheaper than new jewelry!

  3. Holy crap! Ok, so my son (exactly Levi's age) has just started doing this thing where he hides something and then pretends it's missing. It's usually just his toys, but geez, it's getting out of hand. Maybe this is a developmental issue? Time to talk to Levi about what a lie and how it affects others. Ha. My 2.5 year old snuck my meds off my night stand the other day and I went nuts thinking that somehow they just disappeared. This morning I asked her if she took them, she said, "Uh huh", disappeared for ten seconds flat and came back with my bottle. Thank GOODNESS she can talk. What is with kids these days??

  5. Wow. Makes me glad my fingers are so chubby I can't take my wedding/diamond rings off. And I leave my stud earrings in all the time unless I am going to wear something different our of my jewelry box which I keep way up out of reach. Kids!!!!!

  6. My little girl was supposed to be napping but instead was playing with my wedding ring/engagement ring that I had left on my bedside table. When I went to find them and couldnt, I asked her where they were and she just laughed and told me they "were on Priscilla the pigs tail." Sure enough, she had crammed all of my jewels on the end of the pigs tail. I was so thankful they were found!
