A winter storm is heading our way and we fought the crowds at the grocery store last night for the last loaf of bread and jug of milk.
As I was scouring the empty aisle for a lone pack of hot dog buns (I had to make do with some hoagie rolls), a man came up beside me, got within 2 inches of my nose and said,
"SIX inches of sleet coming our way. SIX!!!!!!", holding up his fingers to show me how thick that was.
And then he scurried away in a frenzy.
I stood there half shocked/half amused, nervous laughing with a nice old lady who witnessed the bizarre encounter.
Why he felt he needed to burst my personal bubble and tell me that, I'll never know. But what I do know is that he got the last pack of hotdog buns.
We filled our cart to the brim full of stuff for warm meals, fun junk food, and a couple gingerbread house kits and went on our merry way.
What are your favorite snow storm meals and treats?
Oh bless him! Sleet doesn't accumulate. Lol! Sweet man was just trying to throw you off because he saw you eyeing the hot dog buns and he needed them. ;)
ReplyDeleteWe timed badly and are driving home from FL to Dallas Saturday. My parents thankfully live in the neighborhood and are shopping for me today or else I'd be coming home to an empty fridge! Crossing my fingers the drive is clear and safe!
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope y'all stay safe! We went shopping yesterday also, and the store was absolutely packed. We picked up roasts, stew makings, and taco makings. Between that and leftovers, we are good to go! Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteEngland is in the middle of an unexpected storm at the moment. Hoping that you all stay safe! x
ReplyDeleteThe ice has arrived in Fort Worth! I picked up stuff to make and decorate sugar cookies with my girls, and of course some yummy coffee creamers and ingredients for taco soup. We are ready! Hope you and your sweet family stay warm!
