A Day in Space!

Levi is really into space, planets, rockets and astronauts these days, so we planned a fun day for him on his actual birthday.  Beware of picture overload ... today and probably for all of next week, too, since his party is this weekend!  I'm not good at only choosing a few photos to share. :) But in my opinion, the more photos the better! (Especially when you use your blog for documenting memories!) I am exclamation point happy!

(I blame the caffeine I'm consuming to get me through this week!)

He woke up to a fun table of presents, balloons, party horns, and donuts!

Funny story: with Husby on the night shift all month, I waited until Levi was in bed and then stayed up late to blow up balloons and wrap gifts so that he could wake up to a fun surprise.  Between Ezra's feedings and paper, scissors and tape, I was exhausted.  I finally crashed in bed at around 1am.  I could not WAIT until Levi woke up to see his surprise.  As soon as he rounded the corner and spotted the balloons, his eyes sparkled and a giant smile lit up his whole face, as he exclaimed ....

"OH BOY! Glam*ma and Papapa bought me PRESENTS!!!!"

Uh.  TIME OUT.

I busted my buns getting all this ready and who gets the credit?  His grandparents who weren't even there!  I quickly corrected him and told him that all of this was from MOMMY and DADDY. He didn't care - he just wanted to open them!

Little rascal.

Blurry picture, but it's just too cute.

He's a booger bear.

But a cute one, so I took some pictures of him! Imagine that.

So anyway, after Husby slept for a couple hours, we woke him up so that Levi could open his gifts and so  we could get going with our big day!

He is obsessed with tents these days, so instead of using blankets like we always do, we got him a real one. Ha!

First stop?  Lunch at Chick-fil-A (his favorite) with his Grammy & Poppy!

After that, we headed to our next destination ...

The Tulsa Air & Space Museum and Planetarium.  He was SO excited to go to "the astronaut museum"!  We thought this would be the perfect thing for us to do to get pumped for his "astronaut party"this weekend.

Levi was in Heaven!

The place was awesome because you can crawl into the cockpits of the fighter jets.  It is the perfect thing to do with little boys and let me tell you, I was just as fascinated as he was!

There were so many fun things for them to do there.  He got to "fly" a fighter jet and ride in a simulator that made him feel like he was on the moon.  Super fun.

Ezra was awake the entire time we were there.  I think he'll be a little space boy, too! :)

(I didn't even realize it, but I dressed Ezra in an outfit that had a big number 3 on it!  Perfect!)

See this rocket?  Levi got to go through the steps and launch it!  He loved doing this.

When we were finished with the museum, we walked on over to the planetarium to watch a show about space.  It was awesome.  Levi was ENTHRALLED!

Husby was falling asleep because it was dark and he was running only 3 hours of sleep, and Ezra was sleeping, too.  So, half way through I whispered to Levi, "do you want to go leave and go get a birthday cake pop and something to drink?"  He said, "NO! We have to stay and finish this show!"

He was absolutely glued to it and let me tell you, it was way over his head! He didn't think so.  :)

When it was over, he walked ahead of us and said, "that was a fun movie, guys".

We left the place and came home to take naps.  All four of us!  It was great.

That evening, his Glam*Ma and Papapa came up to take us out to a birthday dinner!

We all crashed by the time it was all said and done.  It was such a great day.  One that I'll always tuck into my heart as so very special and think about often.  These boys make my life fuller than I ever could have imagined.

I guess you could say it was "out of this world".  ;)

  2. Oh so sweet! Happy birthday Levi! Don't you hate how the grandparents get all the credit for the good stuff? Although in our case it makes sense, that IS where most the good stuff comes from :)

  3. His reaction to his presents is priceless! Oh those grandparents! haha. Aren't you amazed at what D can do on such little sleep? I'm always so thankful when Ty does things with me on little to no sleep. We've got some good guys.
