* Y'all. Okay. The banana thing. My gracious sakes, I think I am the only one in the entire world who has never done this or seen it done! Thanks for setting me straight, except I don't know if I can break a 28 year old habit of not separating the bunches. Watch the grocery officials change their "laws" and as soon as I work up the nerve and actually snap one off ... I get in trouble. Yup, that would happen to me. I would promptly direct them to this blog to prove my banana bunch devotion.
* I love Dance Moms. It's far more entertaining than Toddlers and Tiaras (makes me want to punch someone), but a lot of people say it's staged. I am naive and like to think it's true life. Regardless, those little girls are incredible dancers. Amazing! But poor them - they have no childhood. Their moms are whack. But not as whack as Abby Lee Miller!
* SICK. I just polished off my Chick-fil-A large unsweet iced tea and got to the bottom of the cup to crunch the last bit of ice. And ... I found a hair. A long black nasty hair. Excuse me while I go vomit up a lung.
* This just makes me super disgusted about all the things I probably consume without even knowing it. One time I got to the bottom of my salad and found a dead fly. Yup. No lie. Sick Sick Sick.
* There are a couple things in life that I have no control over. One of those things are Tagalong girl scout cookies. I can't decide if I should even get a box this year, because, no lie, I could probably eat the entire box in one sitting.
* I need some good book recommendations.
* I am a sucker for holiday pajamas - for both myself and my child. And I don't mind wearing mine all year around, but for some reason it bugs me for Levi to wear Halloween jammies in February and Christmas jammies in March. I still put them on him, because they're cute and like new, but it kind of throws me off. I've got weird hangups.
* I'm also having mantle decor problems. I simply can not get it to where I want it!
* Crazy busy and early day tomorrow - I better hit the hay! I wonder where that phrase came from? If my bed felt like hay, I'd sleep on the couch.

Book recommendations are my thing! I'm not sure what kinds of books you like so here are a few from different genre's:
ReplyDeleteThese is My Words by Nancy Turner (MOST AMAZING BOOK EVER)
Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Divergent by Veronica Roth
Or check out www.thesweetbookshelf.com for more!
i'm the same way with holiday pajamas. i will wear my snowflake pajama pants year round, but i can hardly wait to put away the boys snowman pajamas.
ReplyDeleteI can tell you that 95% of what goes on at Abby Miller's is TRUE. I own a dance studio in PA and we have competed against them many times. Her "method" of training and how awesome the girls is 100% true. Sure, the moms amp up the drama a little but...yeah they are that crazy. :)
ReplyDeleteYou should read Saving CeeCee Honeycutt. It is a great Southern read. I downloaded it from the library.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Dance Moms! I was pretty bored by Toddlers and Tiaras, so I didn't have high hopes, but the girls are amazingly talented! You could take away all the drama and I'd still love the 5 minutes that they show the girls' dances. And, thank you, Kate for letting us know the truth! It's fun to watch, but I think in real life, Abby Miller would scare me to pieces!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to recommend Little Bee-great read, entertaining but also an eye opener. Kristen Hannah also writes excellent books. I especially enjoyed Winter Garden. Have you ever tried audio books-I find I like listening to them when I am doing "chores"...makes the time go by faster.
ReplyDeleteThe Art Of Racing In The Rain - By Garth Stein
ReplyDeleteSweetest book ever that made me cry and cry and cry.
I love reading your blog!
ReplyDeleteMy book recommendation is Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay
I read it last month for Book club. It was so so so powerful, but sad because it is a historical fiction about holocaust. I would recommend it for a great perspective book.
Also, if you haven't read Jane Eyre. DO IT! My favorite book of all time. It beat Pride and Prejudice for me. It was that good!
You should join Goodreads. It is the best site. Book recommendations , book giveaways, and a book swap all set up on one site. It gives reviews of every book you can imagine.
You are not the only one who thought separating banana bushels were wrong. I had no idea people did/could do that. Also I've been posting books on my blog that I've read. Go check em out for recommendations. I'll be posting what I read each month in the near future!
ReplyDeleteI've heard AH-MAZING things about the Hunger Games series. Also, another amazing series is the Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher. Have you read those by any chance?
ReplyDelete"Hit the hay" originates from when cowboys used to sleep with their horses on beds made of hay and it is also said that original mattresses were stuffed with hay. Either way sounds pretty uncomfortable to me!!!

I most definitely recommend "The Hunger Game" series. It is an easy read and one that you will not want to put down. It was released in the teen section (like twilight), but we are about the same age (I'm 27) and I LOVED the books, and so did everyone else I know that's read them. PLUS, the movie for the first book comes out March 23rd, so it makes it more fun to know you can go watch it on the big screen soon!
ReplyDeleteI will go with the other ladies - The Hunger Games is amazing. You should def jump on the band wagon.
ReplyDeleteI've really gotten into The Hunger Games lately! It's amazing!! Aside from that, I love anything Elin Hilderbrand or Danielle Steele.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else and definitely recomment the Hunger Games. I wasn't sure about them but had heard so much so when I got my kindle for Christmas I immediately downloaded them....and finished all three books in less than a week! I also agree about Little Bee...great book. Also, of course, if for some reason you have not read the Help read it! I am also a huge fan of Harry Potter if you never got around to reading them. They are really good and I couldn't put them down. I was on the last book during finals week one semester....my grades suffered.
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of historical Christian fiction. I'm not sure your reading style. My current favorite authors are Julie Klassen and Laura Frantz! Get their books today!
ReplyDelete'hit the hay' comes from back in the day when beds were made from straw and rope rigged to a metal/wooden frame and/or hay tossed on a stone bed :) that's where the term don't let the bed bugs bite comes from too!! bugs in the hay, eeeeep just thinking about it!
