Our Cozy Christmas Cottage!

Christmas decor just makes the house so warm and cozy. Don't you just love it? I wish we could keep it up for months because I feel like I don't get to enjoy it long enough. I use the warm classic colors of Christmas - lots of reds, greens and golds. I never tire of them. They're so sparkly and festive!

Christmas trees are hard to photograph.

Christmas-1

Our tree is a pre-lit artificial (not as festive, but oh so pretty) and I decorate with classic glass Old World ornaments. I buy new ones to represent each year, phase of life, interests of my family members, etc., and it is so much fun looking at all of them and knowing each one holds or represents and special memory. I write the year on the bottom of the special ones so that when I'm old and senile I will remember. I love that we started this ornament collection so early in our marriage! Maybe when the kids are grown I can fill a 12 foot tree!

Christmas-2

For filler, I use gold bells that jingle (Levi's favorite), and red green and gold sparkly "sticky-outies" (as I call them).

Christmas-3

Ignore the wire mass under my Christmas village table. Now that's all you'll be able to see. ;)

Oh Christmas tree. Oh Christmas tree! How lovely are your branches!

Our stockings are hung by the chimney with care.

Christmas-4

Christmas-5

Notice the mini stocking next to Weebie's! It represents our new bundle of baby joy who is very much with us this Christmas, but won't be able to enjoy the goodies of a real stocking. But he still gets one of his own to represent! :)

Next to the fireplace, we have Santa's cookie plate and mug! And a key for him to use, just in case he can't fit down our chimney.

Christmas-6

I went a bit overboard with the milk and cookie bit, and he has one waiting in the kitchen, too. I'm milk & cookie crazed! Blame the pregnancy.

Christmas-7

Christmas-8

And my leaning tower of Christmas tree'sa. I think it's time to retire that bad boy. I have a better one in mind for next year! :)

My most prized Christmas decor is this beautiful hand carved nativity that my parents bought for us in Bethlehem this summer! I mean, really - a nativity from Bethlehem?! How SPECIAL! I love love love it! Levi loves it, too, but I encourage him to play with his Fisher Price one (which he is obsessed with), so he doesn't break something on this one. It's not like it's easily replaceable!

Christmas-9

Levi has his own tree this year! (Last year he had a planes, trains and automobile tree but somehow we lost that entire tree and all the ornaments. They are NOWHERE to be found!)

It is Santa themed and he adores it! He was at Glam*Ma & Papapa's when I put it together and when he came home and saw it, I had gone to bed early and he ran to the side of my bed and said, "Mommy, I love my tree! I looked at it over and over and over!" :) I'm telling you, this baby is such an encourager.

Christmas-11

He makes you feel like everything you do for him is so special.

Christmas-12

And his beloved "Cracker Man" friends guard his "tivity" snow globe.

Christmas-13

We added to our Christmas village this year and it is growing! I don't know where I'll put it next year when I get a new piece. We have a house, Church, pharmacy (represents my Dad), bike shop (represents Husby), train and train station (represents Weebie).

Christmas-14

I am in love with this village set because each piece is so detailed. Through the windows, there is a Mommy baking in the kitchen of the house, children having milkshakes in the pharmacy, bikes in the bicycle shop, stained glass windows in the Church, etc. It's so magical.

Christmas-15

Levi stands and plays with it every single day and moves things around and has a blast. Mater and Cracker Man Nutcracker have also made surprise appearances in the village, which always takes me by surprise when I walk by. :)

Christmas-16

My wrapping paper this year is fun! Leopard, cheetah and zebra in holiday colors. Love!

Christmas-17

Christmas-18

There is something about gifts under the tree that just complete the look.

Christmas-19

And there is a peek into Christmas at my house! I failed to get a picture of the mistletoe with crystal hanging from my entry hall chandelier and the peacock and jeweled wreath on my front door. Just believe me when I say they're festively fun! :)

Have you blogged your holiday decor? I'd love to see it! My favorite blog posts are those that feel like I'm spying and peeking into your windows! :) Hope you enjoyed spying on us!

  11. I adore the Old World ornaments. My goal is to one day cover my tree with them, but for now I'll stick with a mixture of ornaments from my and J's childhood, with a few others mixed in (they're good too)!
