Quiche.

I tweeted a picture of a quiche that I made last night and had several requests for the recipe, so I figured I would just blog it for easy access.

I feel like quiche is either something you love or something you hate. I went my entire life thinking that I hated it because I am not a fan of eggs. A couple years ago, I tried it for the first time and my life was changed! It is so not eggy! It's absolutely delicious and one of my very favorite breakfast/brunch foods. Nom Nom Nom!

This is Paula Deen's recipe and it was a huge hit in my home. If you are a quiche lover, you must make this one.

Spinach and Bacon Quiche. Here is what you'll need:

6 large eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
Salt and pepper
2 cups chopped fresh baby spinach, packed
1 pound bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 1/2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
1 (9-inch) refrigerated pie crust, fitted to a 9-inch glass pie plate

While you're frying up your bacon, throw the eggs and heavy cream in a food processor (or blender) until smooth. Add your salt and pepper.

Then layer in your (pre-made) pie crust: Spinach, Bacon & Cheese. The colors are beautiful!

(I threw in a handful of cheddar cheese, too, for good measure.)

Then pour your egg mixture on top.

Bake at 375 for 35-45 minutes.

It turned out beautifully!

Most people think that quiche is a "girly" food ... this is where you are wrong. Husby absolutely LOVED it. I mean think about it, it's everything guys love whipped up into a pie! Bacon. Eggs. Cheese. How could a man not love it?

Mine did.

Of course, it didn't hurt that I served it alongside a heaping plate of biscuits and sausage gravy. There you go. Man food.

What I really loved about this dish is that it keeps and reheats perfectly. Husby grabbed a slice and threw it in the microwave on his way out for work. He had a simple, nutritious breakfast on-the-go just like *that*! I told him I need to start making a different kind of quiche every Sunday so he will have it for his work week. Not a bad idea! :)

Enjoy!

  1. Oh man that looks SO GOOD!!! Also, can I tell you how much I love that you put your eggs in one of those ceramic egg crates?

  3. I also love quiche for work week breakfasts! Yours looks delicious with all of those layers. I'm not a fan of the egginess either, so a few years ago, I started substituting tofu. So now, I do about 3 eggs and a half block of tofu in the food processor. (I don't add cream.) The tofu is tasteless, has a ton of protein, and cuts the egg consistency that I don't really like. So yes, I'm a big fan of quiche too! :)

    I don't think I should've clicked this post. Thanks. ;)

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE quiche. All kinds. My husband does NOT, NOT, NOT.

    Argh.

Perhaps I'll treat myself to a "better than most" lunch this week. (And I'll probably eat the whole thing.)

  9. I generally only like egg in small quantities... Maybe I'll try a mini quiche? It looks too yummy not to give it a chance!

  10. This is totally random, but did you know that in France they can't stand the idea of eggs for breakfast? I recently spent some time with people from Paris and they were disgusted with the idea of quiche for breakfast...how crazy is that? They do, however, eat quiche for dinner. Weird. Anyways, I too thought that I wouldn't like quiche...but it's one of my favorites! This recipe looks delicious

  11. Looks delish! I have everything on hand to make it except the pie crust. I'd go get one but I have no car, and it's raining. Darn it! But I am going to make that soon!

  12. I make a quiche that is almost identical to this; but, you mix all of the ingredients in with the eggs before putting it in the pie shell and baking.
