Weebie Wednesday: Fishers of Men.

Levi got his Daddy a gift card to Bass Pro for Father's Day so he could buy a couple of things he had been wanting. Husby had some money left over and kindly bought Levi a fishing pole. Nearly every day since then, Levi has asked me if he could "go fishing a daddy" when daddy got "home a work" (he doesn't quite have his prepositions down - tee hee). One day this weekend, Levi's dream came to life!

The three of us hopped in the car and headed down yonder for a fishing expedition. The lake we went to is only a hop, skip, and jump away from our house (err, 15 minutes), and though not an excellent fishing spot, it's a great, quiet little place.

They have a dock accessible by a bridge, that makes the perfect setting for a father/son (and camera-crazed mommy) fishing frenzy. So much fun!

Our little critter was enamored with the swinging bridge. We couldn't keep him off of it. Forget fishing, this boy wanted to explore!

Daddy bought crickets (yipe!) instead of worms for bait and the entire way to the lake the nasty little things were CHIRPING in our car. I nearly had a heart attack. And I could swear I smelled them. Weebie said he could, too.

When Daddy baited the hook, Levi was right in the big middle of it.

And then they cast their line out into the great waters.

Levi sat there for a few minutes, lost interest, and went back to exploring the new territory.

I could tell he just wanted to jump off the dock and have a free for all in the water.

Finally, after a half hour of waiting ...

something bit the hook ...

tugged on the line ...

and made one little boy ecstatic!!

YAY! A FISHY! A FISHY!

Weebie was beyond thrilled with the day's efforts. And even caught another one soon after!

He wanted to pet the fishies and throw them back, so that's just what we did.

If there is anything that I learned that day, it's that ...

My boys are quite the catch. ;)

"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."

  3. This made my eyes water at the thought of how excited that must have made him! What an incredible day filled with unforgettable memories. The photos are beautiful and are examples of how adventurous and thrilling little boys are. Mine is only 6 months old but I look forward to future days like this where milestones happen and you slowly watch your baby become a little boy (well, in my eyes my baby will always remain a baby to me...my heart can't handle him as a little boy)
