Hairbrained.

If I were wealthy to the point of ridiculous and could spend money on unnecessary things without batting an eye, I know exactly where one hunk of my green stacks would go.

To a personal hair stylist.

In my opinion, Jessica Simpson has it MADE to have her hair stylist (and BFF), Ken Paves at her beck and call. He is always there to throw her hair up in the cutest little do's and she never has to even think about what she wants to do with it. Wouldn't that be absolutely incredible?

I always love Jessica's hair. I would love to be able to recreate any of these myself!

My favorite summer hair that he does with her are the side braids. Oh my, just so cute! I would love to do these. If I could, it's all you'd see me in for summer!

I am not very adventurous when it comes to do's. Basically, down, half up or a pony tail are my "styles". I wish I had the capabilities to do all these cute little things to my own hair, but I only have so many hands. I wish I could take my head off of my shoulders for a few minutes to do with what I want! Anyone out there know what I'm saying?

I think hair stylists are keeping a big fat secret from us. You know how you get your hair cut and you walk out of the salon with big bouncy fantabulous hair and you think to yourself, "this is the best haircut I've ever had and I look HOT!" and then you wash your hair the next day and try to recreate the look and it's just not happening? Yeah, that happens all the time. It's not fair. I buy the products, I tease the hair - why can't it look like THEY make it look? It's a hair conspiracy, I tell ya ... and I'm on to them.

I'm setting out to uncover their dirty little secret, but until then, does anyone know of any easy cute hair do's to get me out of my rut? Please and Thank You!

If you have nothing to share concerning do's, who's (celebrity speaking) hair do you always love?

PS - Typing the word hair do confuses me when making it plural.

  1. When you uncover the secret PLEASE let me know! I totally relate to this. I always look like a mess because I have no idea what to do. When I do straighten my hair it ends up poofing out anyways. I expected it when I lived on the east coast, now that i'm back on the west coast i'm just getting irritated with it.
Personal hair stylist where are you!?

  2. It used to bug me to no end that I couldn't get my hair to copy styles in magazines. But I've finally found the trick to learning how to style your hair at home! Youtube tutorials!! This is one of my fave girls: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrlDSajseYg&feature=channel

Watch a few of these, test 'em out, and you'll be surprised how easy it all is :)

  3. I try and do those cute braids to my hair all the time and I ALWAYS have one section that just looks bad or bumpy! So annoying.

Anyway, I have a girl crush on Carrie Underwood and am IN.LOVE with her hair...to the point that I am using one of her styles as basis for my own wedding hair this September. haha.

  4. I have ALWAYSSSS wanted to do my hair in those side braids like her. I think they are just adorable, but I can't seem to manage it no matter how many times I try. Lemme know if you figure out that secret!

  5. My sister is a hairstylist and so far the only thing I think she has that I don't is the ability to reach all areas of my head without resorting to awkward hand movements. Oh, that and she has training and years of experience in the art of hair styling. She braided my hair when I gave birth to my daughter and I loved it.

  7. I love Jessica Simpson and I definitely love her hair. I too only have a select few go to styles that I manage to use everyday

  8. Hey Whitney, do you ever use a round brush to dry your hair? My hair was falling flat until I used a method involving a round brush, hair dryer, & spraying the roots. There is also a way to create volume & shine using a flat iron believe it or not! My hair stylist taught me how. If you want more info or a step by step guide to doing it just let me know! =)

  9. Oh, I'm hopeless. Other than I can do OTHER people's hair really well. I think I get inpatient with mine.

REALLY tempted to go for Maggie Gyllenhal's wavy bob. So cute! But...That'd be cutting off a lot of hair. Scary!

  10. I cannot do anything cute with my hair to save my life. It looks the same everyday. I was watching Jessica's new show last night, and was thinking the exact same thing. I would love a private lesson on how to make "cute" do's, messy styles, and fun up-do's. Life would be fab!

  11. Do you watch Private Practice? Well the actress who plays Charlotte—I just love her hair. Every episode. I even took a picture of it (screen shots from some episodes!) in to my last hair appointment—and it just didn’t turn out that way. The actress is KaDee Strickland. Oh and your 3 styles—down, half up, and pony tail are much better than my down—straight or different layers curled under or out. Yep, that’s it. I’m not good at up hair. Most people see it as “just throwing it up” but then I’m ALWAYS messing with it or trying to re do it—down is good for me.

  12. I've been really into watching the makeup gurus on youtube.com lately. And I noticed they sometimes throw in simple hair styles and give quick tutorials on how you can do it yourself. Maybe do a search on youtube for easy hair tutorials or easy updos?

  14. Because it's just who I am: hairdos, no need for the apostrophe. tee hee

I am the lady with absolutely NO hair savvy so I am of no help. I do, however, like a lot of Charliz Theron's short hairstyles.

  15. So funny....I've had the same thoughts....I could have been writing that post, word-for-word! My favorite celebrity hair is Faith Hill....I think she always looks fabulous! She can go from elegant to cute, to sporty, to fun & always looks great! (Of course, the face helps a little too!) Thanks for the heads up on the youtube tutorials ladies...anxious to check them out!

  20. I'll tell you... the best thing I ever did for my hair style was shaving my head. No, I'm not kidding! I shaved my head for a fundraiser a little over a year ago. I always had long hair, and I was a bit scared! But, I found out that I look so much better with super short hair. I never would have thought... but here I am, a year later, with a short little pixie cut that I completely love, and it is SO EASY to do every day! :-)

  21. Oh I wish I knew their secrets too! I have never been able to recreate the look that I leave the salon with!! It's super frustrating!

I am always looking for new ways to fix my hair also. I too am in a rut so I'm not much help when it comes to hairdos. BUT...I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Carrie Underwood's hair! It always looks gorgeous!

  24. Ok, my lazy-mom-hair is dressier than some people's wedding hair, and the secret is it's really easy! But you have to like the kind of messy look. Basically, you grab a small handful of hair (I like to start at the crown of my head), and either bunch it up into a ball or twist it into a loose messy bun, and pin it in place (I used to use bobby pins, but now I use teeny plastic claw-clips that I bought at the grocery store). Next, you grab another bit of hair, and do the same thing. And again, until all your hair is in a cute messy updo. Your hair looks much thicker than mine is, so you'll probably need way more pins/clips than I do. If you are interested and have any questions, you can email me at kilnashee@hotmail.com
By the way, I think your hair is gorgeous.

  25. I 100% agree with this post! I can put my hair in a ponytail or wear it down but any other hairdos are out of my league. I love the braided hair Jessica Simpson has in the last photo but I would not be able to get it to work. Most hair dressers don't know what to do with my hair because it is wavy and very thick. I feel the pain of not having a personal hair stylist!
