Delishagus!

Last night I knew we were grilling steaks for supper and we don't cook steak that often so I wondered what to fix with it. I thought about mashed potatoes, but we just had that last week. I thought about macaronie and cheese, but I'm not to be trusted with that (my portions get out of control). I contemplated hot rolls or jalapeno corn bread, but I'm trying to cut back on carbs. I pondered many a side dish and ultimately decided on a fresh salad, baked potatoes and The Best Asparagus That Will Ever Grace Your Taste Buds.

And I'm not even lying.

The other day, I caught Trisha Yearwood on The View promoting her newest cookbook. She brought an array of dishes out for the ladies to sample and this asparagus was one of them. The girls could now stop eating this asparagus and kept going on and on about how fantastic it was.

Let me tell you, those women know what they're talking about!

Sure, it may LOOK like simple asparagus wrapped in bacon. Ohhhh, but there is a sauce that you pour all over it. The sauce...ohhhh, the sauce. It is the tastiest, most scrumptious sauce on earth. It is the perfect compliment to the bacon and asparagus. My gracious sakes alive, it's fabulous.

(Sorry for the picture quality. They're from my phone.)

The recipe is simple! All you have to do is wrap a bundle of asparagus with bacon and make this sauce!

Combine on stovetop:
1/2 C. brown sugar
1/2 C. butter (1 stick)
1 Tbs. soy sauce
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/4 tsp. fresh ground pepper

Bring to boil and pour over bundles. Bake for 25 minutes at 400.

I bet your bottom dollar that even if you are not an asparagus fan, you will love this dish. Mwah!

  4. Whitney Dawn-

I do a recipe close to this but with green beans. You take out the soy sauce and pepper (just butter, brown sugar, and garlic!) Then you pour it over the bundles and bake! HEAVEN!

  13. I do something similar to this. I wrap asparagus in prosciutto and stuff a little square of cream cheese in there. Then I drizzle them with a little olive oil, sprinkle on some salt and pepper and bake them in the oven. So. Good.
