My 7 Month Love Bug.

**DON'T FORGET TO ENTER MY GIVEAWAY OVER ON MY REVIEW PAGE!!!**

Levi is seven months old and all over the place. He is a curious little boy and he has set out to explore the entire house. He wiggles his way around and when he sees the destination that he wants to get to, he does not stop until he gets there. He is the most determined little fella.

Just like today, when he spotted his bottle from across the room and quickly made his way over and spilled my diet coke on his way. Nothing deters him, though. He ignored the whole diet coke situation and kept on trucking to his bottle.

OOPS! NO LIE! As SOON as I typed that, I looked over and he had just tipped over Husby's water! Hahahaha....I think we need to call in some carpet cleaners real soon. Hilarious!

He has not yet mastered the technique of crawling up on his knees, but he sure does a good job scooting himself along. He's just the cutest little thing.

His personality is really starting to come out and it is just the sweetest. His disposition is absolutely precious. He can be mid-cry and I walk by and he bursts out into a full blown (toothless) grin and starts laughing. He thinks ducks and quacks are the funniest things on earth, and he is still a champion peek-a-boo'er.

Oh, and he l-o-v-e-s books. But more on that another day...

He is getting more hair every day. Seriously, when I wake up in the mornings and kiss his little noggin, I am astounded at how fast it is growing. It's kind of sad. I love my cute, bald, toothless baby.

Speaking of teeth, I am not sure but I think his first teeth are around just around the corner. Still no visible signs, but he's had a lot of the symptoms - diarrhea, a bit of a low-grade fever for a few days, lots of chewing on things and oceans of drool. The beginning of the week was a rough one. He would NOT go down at night and he just screamed and fussed for no reason when it was time to go to sleep. We had a few sleepless nights and after an wise investment in some teething tablets and a soft pad for his crib mattress (I'm paranoid that he's not comfortable), the boy went back to his normal sleep routine.

And all the angels rejoiced.

Poor little baby. It must be pure torture to have sharp objects pry their way through your sensitive gums. Ugh.

We are working toward getting him on 3 meals a day and then a snack (bottle) before bed time. He is pretty much there, except for an occasional extra bottle to get us through the afternoon if needed. His favorite foods are banana oatmeal, carrots, peas with brown rice, bananas and chicken with apples. He hates anything with turkey in it. He must take after his mommy.

He is at such a fun age of exploration and rapid learning. He does something new and hilarious every day, and he has his daddy and me wrapped around his little finger. He giggles the most precious little laugh and if that means I have to stop in the middle of Wal-Mart and wiggle my head around so that my hair flies all around and talk in a high voice to get it going, by golly, I'm going to do it!

I get lots of stares.

In fact, today at the store I was explaining to Levi today what cilantro was, and how to say it, and a lady stopped and stared at him, then at me, and gave me this look like "Are you serious? He's a baby..." And then I gave her a look (in my mind) like "Keep 'a movin' lady!"

I take every chance I can to stimulate his little mind. He loves to be talked to, he loves to touch things and examine them, and he loves to learn and interact. So I will continue teaching him about produce and cuts of meat and cuff links and dinosaurs and the complexities of algorithms and people can stare all they want.

Life with Levi gets more exciting and more adventurous every day. He is our little love cake and we are better people because of him.
I am a modern day homemaker with a passion for family, cooking, celebrating, decorating, travel, and memory making! The Lord has blessed me with the desires of my heart in my husband and our two sons. We recently built our dream home and cultivating a loving and happy haven for my family is where I find so much joy.

  1. That's so funny, just today I was grocery shopping with my two month old and I was talking to her the whole time. The doctor told me it's good for them. So whatever to people who think it's weird. Keep talking to your baby boy. He's so cute!

  2. Happy 7 months Levi! :) I talk to my little one in the grocery store or wherever we go and I get tons of stares, but I could care less!

Teething is not fun, but you are right the teething tablets are great!

  3. Happy 7 months! My daughter is 13 months old and still has an affternoon bottle of milk. It's totally normal for them to want a snack in the afternoon so don't sweat it!

  4. So funny! Your post was very interesting. And I caught the baby fever bug again :D

  5. Keep telling that boy about cilantro!! I think it's great! I'm sure I look like an idiot at Target, having full-on (one-sided) conversations with Cub as we peruse our way through the store. I don't think it's possible to talk to your baby too much!

It sounds like the little man is just growing and growing. I'm glad the teething tablets are working, too! They are magical!! Kiss that fuzzy head for me, until I can finally meet him someday!! :)

  7. I do the same thing with Alex - If my sister is shopping with me, sometimes Alex gets out of the cart and walks some and we've been known to break out in dance too - makes his little day and mine as well :-) I totally get being a better person for having your baby - it's amazing the transformation that takes place.

  8. I can just picture you and Levi having a lovely produce-oriented discussion and him loving every minute of it! :) I can't believe it has been 7 months already. WOW. He is a sweetie!!

  9. You just keep talking to him! It's way more beneficial than sticking him in front of Baby Einsten, and expecting him to develop his mind. (When in fact, studies have repeatedly shown that TV before age 2 is not good for them, no matter what the program.)

  10. I did the same thing with my son. I talked to him from the day he was born and explained everything. Guess what? The doctor said he has an advanced vocabulary and is very curious. I'm not bragging I'm emphasizing the importance of quality communication with our kids. As a teacher I have found that kids that are stimulated do much better in school and in their social lives.

  11. I'm with Courtney. I had full (albeit one-sided) conversations with both of my boys and they both have very advanced vocabularies!

  12. It is so good for you to talk to babies! Don't stop, even when you get stares.

  13. When I go to Wal-Mart with Livy by myself, I talk non-stop to her in a ridiculously high pitched voice. Hey, it keeps her entertained and I can make it in and out of wal-mart melt-down free! WHATEVER WORKS! : )

  14. I say you are never too young to learn about cilantro. I learned way too late!

  15. I know you'll keep on talking to Levi and filling his head with all kinds of information. That's very good for him ... and for you. I feel sad for kids whose parents totally ignore them and act like they don't exist. Levi is a blessed little one, and I'm sure he already knows it!

  18. I just found your site, and I have to tell you that I love the pictures of little Levi in the cap and bowtie. I just bought my husband his first bowtie for Christmas, and he is now obsessed with them, and has ordered four more. They're great!

  19. Good for you for talking to him and teaching him about things, like cilantro (delicious)! That woman didn't know what she was talking about (looking about? Haha). He's such a little sponge, and he's learning TONS from you.

  20. I wish I was better at talking to my baby girl. Talking about how I'm doing the dishes or folding clothes does get to be a bit tedious. I like your idea, Maybe I should try explaining algorithms.

  21. Don't let anybody make you feel strange for talking to your baby!! I think it makes them more intellectual. When Justin and I went shopping, I talked to him about everything. What color of shirt I should choose, which shoes he liked best....anything! Even my own Mom told me I was crazy. But now, he uses words that a normal 8 year old would not even know!!

    Good for you!!

  22. I have SUCH baby fever and every time I read your blogs I remember how badly I want to have my own bundle of joy. Thank you for bringing a smile to my face! :-)
