The Answers: Part III

Okay, here are the last of the questions! Ya'll have me typing so fast that smoke is billowing from my laptop! :)

And don't forget to check my Cooking Challenge blog for new posts!

29. How is your style / fashion as a SAHM? Do you mostly wear comfy clothes or old work style clothes? Do you still glam up every day or just for occasions?

Most days if I am not going out, I throw on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt and a little makeup. If I am running errands, I dress up a little more wearing nicer jeans/pants and a cute shirt/jacket, full make up, earrings, etc. I save total "glamming up" for dinners out, dates with friends and weekend festivities.

30. What make-up, perfume etc you use in your glam life!

This is SO FUNNY that you asked this because I was planning to devote a whole post this week to makeup! Sit tight, my friend! But as far as perfume, I wear New West. It's my signature scent!

31. Has that changed much since having Levi?

Nope, nothing has changed as far as make-up and perfume since having Levi.

32. I would also like to know where you got Levi's bedding for " le nursh."

Posh Tots! www.poshtots.com
It was a gift from my lovely parents. They bought the crib and bedding for us. So nice!

33. Now that you have been a Mommy for a while, has it changed your outlook on how glamorous a housewife's life can be? You are so upbeat, I wonder if you ever have a bad day. (Not that I look down on that at all, I think your attitude is so great it is almost surreal!)

Honestly, I don't think ANY job is glamorous! They all have their ups and downs and highs and lows. But the purpose of my blog is to find the glamour and beauty in being an At Home Mom! Since being a Mom and Wife has always been my dream, this is the most fantastic job I could ever ask for. And Levi just makes it even more glamorous. :)

I have bad days just as much as the next girl! I just don't like to document them. I don't want to go back five years from now and read about an unnecessary fight I had with Husby about the pile of STUFF on our home office desk. I don't want to relive the times I wake up on the wrong side of the bed and blame everyone in my path. For me, I like reading uplifting, lighthearted blogs….ones that make me laugh and feel good. Now don't get me wrong, if you are in need of prayer and are going through a hard time, that is NOT AT ALL what I am talking about. I'm talking about Debbie Downer's here. Those who complain for the sake of complaining.

34. Do you ever edit yourself when you share on your blog, knowing that you are archiving this for the future, or because you know some people who read this, and would rather not be "too" honest?

I don't edit myself. I am absolutely honest about whatever topic I discuss. But there ARE topics that I avoid simply because I know it will spark disagreements and unending comments about why I'm "wrong". Something I have learned about the blogosphere is that some people are PASSIONATE about what they believe and if they don't agree with you, then watch out…they're out for blood! There are times I want to get on here and rant and rave and air my grievances, but I don't. Simply because I know it won't help anything and if anything, it will just cause problems. And then you have those people who will find something wrong with even lighthearted posts and will dig to find something you said that they can correct you on. But I just ignore those people and focus on the positive.

35. This question may be too weird or gross for the blog. How is your mouth guard going? Has it helped the teeth grinding etc? Does the good outweigh the gross?

This question was e-mailed to me, but I included it because I didn't think it was gross. The mouth guard is working WONDERS!!! Husby picked one out for me at Wal-Mart, and though a bit pricey (around $30), it was well worth EVERY cent. It is super tiny, thin and I don't realize it's there. I had a mouth guard last year that was so bulky and big I woke up every morning only to find it on the other side of the room!! (I guess I got frustrated in my sleep). I started wearing it about 3 months ago and have only had 3 headaches since. Before the guard, I had 3 or 4 headaches a week. It's a miracle worker, I promise! Oh, and it's not gross at all. Way less gross than a retainer, even!

36. I want to know how you knew Husby was the right one for you? People always tell me that they "just know" and this confuses to me no end. I have been dating a guy for almost four years..... and since I don't "just know" yet its kind of worrying me!

(This was e-mailed to me as well) Early on in our relationship, I began asking God if Husby was the one. I knew I liked him a LOT, and I did not want to confuse my feelings for Husby for God telling me he was the one. So I spent a LOT of time in prayer trying to decipher if it was God or me or both. After two years of long distance dating (I feel like it took us longer because of the distance), I realized I was absolutely in love with him and could not imagine my life without him. That, to me, was knowing that he was the one. I couldn't bear the thought of not having him IN my life for the rest of my life.

What inspired you to start a blog?

I've been a blogger of sorts since my sophomore year of college, except then I used Xanga. I discovered the whole blogging community a few years ago and thought it would be fun to switch mine to Blogger and get going at it! It's been so much fun and I just love it!

How did you get your theme for Levi's nursery?

I've always loved Beatrix Potter and classic children's stories. When I was pregnant, Mom, Husby and I were roaming the aisles of a little book store and I saw a book of The Tale of Peter Rabbit. I grabbed it, looked at all the pictures and decided right then and there that the book in my hands was my inspiration for Le Nursh.

What is your favorite thing to do in your town?

Going out to eat. :) Lame answer, probably, but I just love going out to eat and trying new places. I especially love supporting local places instead of chains.

Are you applying all over the US for residency or just where you live currently?

He will apply all over!

How did Husby propose? Was there a ring involved?

He took me out for a day long date that was an absolute disaster. Our food was terrible (lunch AND dinner), our movie was awful, but we had such fun anyway. When he was on his way to take me back home, he said he had to stop by his house "to get something" and to come in with him. I did and he led me out the back door. There was a candle lit pathway that led to a linen dropped table for two. He had a slide show playing on the side of the house with pictures of us and all of "our songs". So romantical.

And yes, there was a ring involved. Pear shaped diamond. I LOVE it.

What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?

Ha! So MANY memories from that wonderful day. The FIRST memory of the day is my dad flipping on my light and saying "Husby got bit by a spider on his eye. His WHOLE FACE is swollen. I'm heading down to the pharmacy to get him medicine." What a great way to start the biggest day of your life.

Poor guy. It went down (mostly) by that evening before the ceremony, but you can tell in this picture:

Hello - I am just wondering when you will continue your love story series? I was so enjoying them!

At the top of my page, I added a link to The Love Story site. I will be posting the chapters every few weeks or so.

How is Maxwell doing?

He's doing great! Growing more and more every day and we are just so enjoying his little life! Here's a recent pic from last week!

I am a modern day homemaker with a passion for family, cooking, celebrating, decorating, travel, and memory making! The Lord has blessed me with the desires of my heart in my husband and our two sons. We recently built our dream home and cultivating a loving and happy haven for my family is where I find so much joy.

  1. Wow your parents are very generous! I couldn't imagine spending almost $2000 on just a crib and bedding. Do you plan on using them for your next baby too?

  2. I like documenting spats between my husband and I, but only if they are resolved easily and are funny. Nothing serious. The serious stuff is a tad too personal!

I didn't click on the link, but I agree that your parents are very generous, based on the above comment!! They seem like amazing people.

I was going to ask you this but forgot--do you have Levi's first birthday planned out? I wondered how far in advance you were planning!!

  3. I love the Beatrix Potter theme - when I was a little girl I had a Peter Rabbit plate set that I absolutely loved! I wonder if they still make them?

  4. You had a lot of questions about your decision to try to only put the positive things on your blog. I have to say how much I love that about your site. I know that every morning when I start my day by reading your blog, I'm going to leave with a smile. Its so consistent. I love that.

  5. New question: are you going to finish the Love Story portion of your blog? I'm ready for Chapter 5!

  6. Girl, you know I love you...I'm just hoping that you recognize that sometimes when people post about their "problems" and "woes," what they really need is encouragement from a friend.  I completely understand that there is a big difference between people who are just negative in general and people who want to be happy, but are going through tough times (and I'm sure you do, too).  And sometimes tough times don't last hours or days, but months and years.  Some people do feel absolutely hopeless once in awhile, and while we're not supposed to feel that way, we're only human, and things can get so overwhelming that it seems like they'll never get better.  I am 100% with you on ignoring generally negative talk, but when people are really suffering, sometimes they just need to let it out, and writing (whether it's a blog post or just a Facebook status) may be the best way they can do that - especially if most of their family is far away and they don't have many people they can just sit down and talk to.  I guess I'm saying this because I think a lot of you and hope you don't think less of me because I've had a tough few months.

  7. Know that I mean consistent complaining - Debbie Downers, if you will. Not if you have a problem and need prayer! That's not at ALL what I'm talking about I'm talking about people who can't see the good in anything and always have negative posts.

  8. I can't believe how big Maxwell has gotten! He is precious! He looks like Luke, I think. I need to see a pic of them side by side. He is so very sweet, and you can see joy in Holly's face. What a perfect miracle.

  9. I think I've told you before, but I LOVE your nursery...I've always wanted to do Peter Rabbit for our first baby, and now you're my inspiration! :)
