His Mysterious Ways.

I can testify again and again of God’s goodness to us as couple. He has provided, blessed and shown Himself to us time after time in our 4 short years of marriage. And He continues to do so.

So, I will continue to share.

As you know, we are on a strict Medical School/Stay-at-Home-Mommy budget. Our only income is living-expense loans from the school and of course, our savings. We know how much we can spend each month and we are frugal, to say the least. It’s by no means “cushy” around here, but we felt the Lord leading me to stay home, so of course, I’m staying home with my Little Babe.

And I would never in a million years have it any other way!

I don’t like to discuss finances on here, but this particular post has to do with moolah. (mula? mullah? Ah forget it, it has to do with money, okay?!)

We were given two Wal-Mart gift cards a few months ago from friends celebrating Levi. The other night, we headed out to get some necessities for him and for ourselves. We didn’t keep a tally on what we were spending, since we knew each item had to be purchased. If we went over our gift card balance, then we would simply pay the difference with cash.

We loaded our buggy up with what we needed and moved on to the check out counter.

“That will be $***.**”, the check out lady said. Husby swiped our first gift card, not knowing how much was on either of them. The first one was cleared with none to spare. He swiped the second one and guess how much was left?

Two cents.

We looked at each other and gasped! “I bet we couldn’t do that again if we tried!”, I said to him.

I brushed it off as coincidence and didn’t really think much of it. Stupid me.

Fast forward a few weeks later.

My kind parents offered to take us all on a family getaway for the long holiday weekend. We were absolutely thrilled. Levi needed a few big ticket items at Babies R Us that we had not yet purchased and we decided we should bite the bullet and get them before our trip.

We had two gift cards to Babies R Us from my baby showers. We set out to finally purchase these items and while we were there, we loaded up on several other things The Weebs had been needing. When it was check out time, I grabbed the gift cards out of my wallet and said to Husby, “I have no idea how much are on these, so you might need this”, and handed him some of our yard sale cash.

Yes, I am still carrying a big wad in a zip lock baggy in my purse.

(Don’t worry, I have already deposited most of it, but I kept some $20’s, $5’s and $1’s just wanted to have on hand.)

(And I need to quit being a redneck and put it in my beautiful black wallet instead of a baggy. Seriously.)

The lady rang up our items and Husby scanned our cards. The first one was completely wiped clean and so he ran the second one through. Any guesses on how much was left?

Five cents.

I realized then and there that there is absolutely NO coincidence to these things happening to us lately. We are told that if we trust Him and we are living according to His will, then He will bless us…..provide for us….protect us.

And He’s doing just that.

Thank you, Jesus.

  11. LOL I had to read this post twice because I thought what you said was that the people who gave it to you only put 2 cents on it...like as if they gave your their leftover. LOL I'm glad that was not the case!

  12. I cannot tell you how many times Chris and I have been in the same situation. Last year Chris was finishing his last year of grad school, I was working full time AND paying for my own masters degree, and we were saving to buy a house. Saying money was tight is a huge understatement. But whatever the need, money just sort of appeared. Car insurance bill? We'd get a random check in the mail from a grandparent. Extra large heating bill? Our bank credited us because of a bank error (just like Monopoly!). Once or even twice it could have been a coincidence, but I knew better. By the fifth or sixth time it happened, I was on my knees every day thanking the Good Lord for providing.

He is just so darn thoughtful, isn't He?

  29. I always say people think that they can't stay at home with their baby and truth be told yes you can. God will always make a way. Of course you have to be responsible but He will multiply and make what you have work in ways that will blow your mind! I am so glad you are at home with little man! I am praying for your sis and the baby! I know that the same God that is providing money miracles is the God that will help this baby!
