Dreaming of Cookie Jars.

*Um, I took down the picture of one of the cookie jars. Husby gently told me that it looked like a not-very-nice body part. I HAD NO IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yikes, sorry about that. I thought it was a weird cartoon character!!!!!*

When I get an idea, I dwell on it until it is fulfilled. It's as if I can't think of anything else BUT whatever it is and my mind won't rest until it is seen to completion.

I'm not sure what triggered it, but the other morning I had an intense desire to own a cookie jar and fill it with fantastical cookies. Weird? Maybe.

But I am now on a quest to find THE perfect cookie jar.

I don't want just any cookie jar. I want it to be nice. And pretty. And unique. And inviting. And intriguing. And timeless. I want others to see the jar and just HAVE to open it to see the contents. I want my kids to always remember the cookie jar and have fond memories of sneaking in the kitchen to snatch a goodie out. I want my children's friends to come over and head straight for the jar. I want to always have an assortment of cookies residing inside. I want to pass down this cookie jar to my children. Why a cookie jar, you may be asking yourself.

I have no idea.

The idea just popped up and I liked it. Momma Whitney's Cookie Jar.

With all this said, I have such pressure in finding the PERFECT one. Big? Small? Round? Square? Toile? Designed? Plain? Jadeite? Glass? AHHHH.

If I wanted to freak out everyone who walked into the kitchen and scare away house guests, I could get this one:

(I mean seriously, does this kid have the measles?! Who has freckles on their EARS?)

Or if I wanted to be labeled as the "Scary Lady with the Creepy Cookie Jar" for the rest of my life, I could get this one:

I pity the fool who owns this one:

Geeze, there are some freaky looking cookie jars out there. Terrifying.

So now that we know what I DON'T want, let's check out more along the lines of what I was thinking.

Think Tuscany.

Too bad this set is $582. (!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Think Italian.

Umm.. $428. Why are the ones I like too outrageously priced to ever own?!

Or this...

Who wants to take up a Love Offering for "Getting Whitney Her Dream Cookie Jar?"

All donations welcome.

  1. That's such a sweet idea. I love the idea of the kids running to the cookie jar, too. :) I definitely wouldn't pay $400+ for one though! I hope you find the perfect jar. :)

  3. Hey we can be weird together! I've been on the quest for the perfect cookie jar for a couple of weeks now! hehe.

Haven't found what I'm looking for yet..it's ridiculous that a lot of the stores around town either don't carry cookie jars or if they do, they're all weird and scary like the ones you posted..which were hilarious by the way. *especially the kid with the measels..lol

Hope you find the perfect one!

  8. That first one is Howdy Doody, I'm pretty sure. What a fun search. I will be on the lookout for you.

  9. ME TOO! I've been searching for MONTHS for the perfect cookie jar. I want something vintage, but it still has to look clean...like people wouldn't be afraid to pull a cookie out of it, ya know. Some of that vintage stuff can smell funny.

My grandma always had cookies in her glass cookie jar and it was the first place we headed when we came to visit her!

Good luck! I can't wait to see what you actually get!

  10. Have you seen the jars at Kirkland's lately? I'm in love with those jars. Seriously, you should check them out.

BTW, stop by my blog for an awesome giveaway!

  11. When I saw that set of white ones I immediately thought they looked like urns, like the kind you put ashes in...just saying :)

  12. Hope you find one that you really love...wow! I didn't realize that there were so many terrible cookie jars out there! What are people thinking?!

  13. I like the last one!!! My mom had a mouse cookie jar that I still love...hoping she'll hand it down to me at some point!

  14. I was thinking of a glass one too, one in which your kids (& the neighbor kids) could see the delicious treasures. Just a thought. And, as I have seen over and over in my 40+ years of life, my tastes change each decade. You'd want something that would go with any style in your kitchen. Just a thought.

  15. What about a simple glass apothecary jar? I love those, and you could always repurpose it, fill it with fresh fruit or silk flowers to be a table arrangement if you are going through a phase (like another newborn?) when you don't have as much time for baking fantastical goodies.

  16. Hee Hee! I said "just a thought" twice in my short comment and didn't even realize it. Guess I like to repeat myself. :)

  17. You don't think Mr. T is timeless? He voices on of the characters in "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs". He's hilarious!

Believe it or not: Chris has freckles on his ears. No joke! The top of his ears have the tiniest, cutest freckles.

  18. I LOVE the very last cookie jar. It is so pretty! That first one kind of looks like Howdy Doody...

  21. My Great-Grandma had a cookie jar, that I remember fondly going into when I was little. When she died, it was passed on to my Grandma. I kept telling my Mom, I want that cookie jar, make sure I get it!

Sure enough about 2 years ago, she went to visit and she brought it back for me! It is my most favorite material possession.

    Good luck in your quest!

  22. I have been looking for a cookie jar also!! I hope you find the perfect one! I plan on looking at Affair of the Heart when it comes to town. Do you ever go to that? They have some awesome stuff there!

  27. Oooh, I LOVE the Italian one! When I was in Spain, I got to watch a bunch of pottery, including cookie jars, being hand painted with the most intricate, delicate designs. It was fabulous. I have lots of plates and vases from it but no cookie jar! Just fly to Spain or Italy and buy one! ;)

  31. I love cake plates and recently went with a friend to one of the places where you paint your own ceramics...I made a leapord and zebra cake stand that turned out so cute... now you have me thinking I need to go back and make a cute cookie jar!

  32. I think the Mr. T one is the best! haha. Also, I have an award for you at my page so hop on over to check it out!

  33. Love it!! Do you have a Marshall's where you live or Kirklands or Home Goods? They may have something similar to what you want.

    ReplyDelete
  34. If you hadn't of told me the last two were cookie jars, I'd be more inclined to think they were urns.

    ReplyDelete
  35. You should start stalking TJ Maxx! I'm sorry I missed the cookie jar pic you took down. haha!
Good luck! I'm sure you will find a gorgeous one!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I too am sad that I missed the one you took down! Bummer.

I don't have a cookie jar because I can't find one I like. I have to keep my cookies in a Rubbermaid food container, and it's just not the same!

I can guarantee you one thing though - you pay a lot of money for a cookie jar, that thing is guaranteed to break within the year. Spend $20 and it will last a lifetime!

  37. I think the last one is so cute. I'm lucky to have a really special cookie jar in my kitchen--a vintage apple cookie jar from my grandmother's kitchen. Good luck in your search!
