Prayer.

It's funny how my prayer life changes with each season of life. Growing up, the majority of my prayers focused on me. Please help ME do this, please show ME what to do, please keep ME safe, please provide this for ME, etc. Of course, I always covered my family in prayer and needs of those around me, but for the most part....it was about me.

When I got married, my prayers for myself turned into prayers for "us" - Husby and me, since we were now one. My choices were suddenly his choices, and vice versa. My prayers quickly turned from "show me, lead me, guide me", to "show us, lead us, guide us". I daily covered my husband in prayer and quickly found that I was praying more for him than for myself.

Now that we have our little Levi, I find myself praying for him constantly. All day.

For his health.
For his safety.
For his future.
For his wife.
For his decisions.
For his choices.

But mostly....for his salvation. That he would come to know Jesus at an early age, and that he will glorify Him with his life.

As the Mom and Wife of our little family, I have a huge responsibility to my boys - to cover them both daily in prayer. God has given the two most precious gifts of my life, my husband and my little boy, and I thank Him ceaselessly.

I am a modern day homemaker with a passion for family, cooking, celebrating, decorating, travel, and memory making! The Lord has blessed me with the desires of my heart in my husband and our two sons. We recently built our dream home and cultivating a loving and happy haven for my family is where I find so much joy.

  1. I find that now that I'm a mom, I pray MORE. I've always prayed, just not on a very regular basis. Now I do it almost every night.

  2. I've found myself in tears so often in genuine longing for my girls to come to know Jesus at a young age. I know how you feel. If we can only impart ONE thing as we raise them, I pray with all of my heart that it's a love for their Creator above all else! Little Levi is so blessed.

  3. That's because Motherhood isn't just a job sweet daughter of mine. It's a calling. Being a wife and a mom is a ministry. You have the privilege of ministering to Husby and Weebie every single day. Keep using your most powerful tools, your heart and your hands. I'm proud of you. I love you!!

  7. That burden to pray for your kids will always be there, just as it is for your hubby! Good for you! Our kids are in their early teens and we can see the power of prayer through the years!

  8. Great post! It's a great testament to the gifts that God has given us as wives and moms. My bff from high school's mom used to say the LONGEST prayers at the dinner table. But she was just so thankful to Him and wanted to cover her family in prayers. I always think about her when I think of what kind of pray warrior I would like to be.

  10. You are so right. So many people still pray for just themselves. They just don't get. It's not all about them.

I'm glad you realized this early on.

  14. Such a sweet post. I relate to everything you said up until the kids part since we don't have kids yet...but the part about moving from "me" to "us" is definitely true.
