A New Leaf.

Now that I am a Stay-At-Home-Mom, I have noticed something about my house. I have a lot of useless stuff.

In my hall closet, I have random knick-knacks and items that somehow, somewhere, I thought I might need on down the road. Guess what? I'm further down the road and I've never needed any of those things.

In my bedroom closet I have pants, jeans and dresses that I have saved for "when I lose 15 pounds and can fit in them again". Guess what? I've had some of those things for 3 years. And when I do finally lose those 15 pounds, you know I won't want to wear the old stuff - I'll want new! ;)

In my kitchen, I have some multiples of things that I know I don't need. Why do I have them? Because in my mind, "I'll never know when I might need them!"

This week, I have decided to turn over a new leaf. To simplify my home and my life. If I get rid of these things, organization will be easier, storage will be bigger and my day-to-day routine will be much less complicated.

That is why I have decided to have the Yard Sale of All Yard Sales.

I will keep you posted on the process of organizing it and the nitty gritty details of The Big Day (August 6). I am entirely too excited about this.

On your mark, get set, PRICE THOSE ITEMS! :)
I am a modern day homemaker with a passion for family, cooking, celebrating, decorating, travel, and memory making! The Lord has blessed me with the desires of my heart in my husband and our two sons. We recently built our dream home and cultivating a loving and happy haven for my family is where I find so much joy.

  3. Good for you! When we moved into our condo, I pared down a lot... but I still could do some more. Good luck getting it all ready- it will be so worth it when it's done!

  4. The upside (did I really say that?) of having two floods in 13 months is that you realize you have a lot of stuff you just don't need. I pared down quite a bit last year but plan to do it again. I am planning a yard sale in September with some girls from work. I can't wait to see how much I can release from my house!

  5. We had a garage sale in June. My cousin put it perfectly ... It was a good day for skiing in hell. One of our biggest money makers - gatorade and soda and candy bars! We put them in a big cooler right by the checkout table and mentioned them to everyone. $1 a piece. Loads of money!

    Good luck!

  7. Oh you're going to love it-- it is a new leaf!! My husband and I have been married for 4 years and have had 3 state-to-state moves during that time! Each move we threw out/donanted/sold SO MUCH crap. Knick knakcs, extras, clothes that didn't fit, furniture taking up space that we didn't like, etc etc. And after we got settled from our last move in May one of my firends said "I'm so jelous about how much stuff you DON"T have," haha. Everything was orgnaized and had a place (even in our 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment) and it feels good :) So happy yard saleing.

  8. The hubs and I have a storage unit we desperately need to go through. I think if we haven't seen it or used it in over a year what is the point of keeping the junk. I need to turn over a new leaf too!

  9. I have been trying to do something similar. I am interested to see how you organize your yard sale and get it prepared. I am having one in Oct. I did it last year and learned a few things.

  10. I did the same thing when I started staying home with my daughter. It's funny how once you are home you realize that the material things just aren't where it's at!
My best friend and I are having a yard sale to raise money to do some painting in our homes.
Good luck on your sale and better luck on not using your proceeds buying more stuff!

  15. A good yard sale is so worth the effort: the house is decluttered, and you have a little money in your pocket at the end of the day! Good luck!

  20. Ick, garage sales. I hate them. This is the first year that I haven't done one in several years. I just didn't have anything to sell. We threw away all of our junk when we moved in February. Have fun! And, I hope you make a lot of $$$!

  21. OMG, you should go to getmyselforganized.com and download the e-book! I mean, after I read it, I noticed all of my useless stuff, and I went to work! How much crap did I have that someone gave me that, when I thought about it, I didn't even like? A LOT! I am trying to simplify my home and life right now too, and that e-book helped so much! It has stuff in it that makes you think, duh, that's commons sense!, but it helps to have someone knock you over the head with it! :)

  22. I have the $ box and can get the change. I have the signs, 2 clothes racks, a calculator, bags, and a card table. I have all my stuff priced, but will probably spend everything I make buying stuff from you. Hee Hee. It will be fun if nothing else!
