Hiccup!

Yesterday, Levi got the hiccups.

It was hilarious.

About an hour later, I got the hiccups.

It wasn't as funny.

Hiccups are a strange thing. I seem to get them at the most inopportune times, like when I'm on the phone at work, or when I'm in Church, or when I am supposed to be really quiet for whatever reason.

Sometimes I get hiccups that hurt. Do you know what I'm talking about? I hate that kind. Other times, I get them and I'll hiccup 3times and then it's over with. Those are my favorite kind. And then I get them were they go on and on and on and on.

There are 2 remedies that always work on me to get rid of the hiccups.

1. Someone says to me, "I bet you can't hiccup one more time." And there ya go, I can't hiccup again. Except I can't tell you to say it or it doesn't work. You just have to know to say it, and I have to not be expecting it.

2. Drinking a glass of water bending over and sipping from the opposite side of the cup. It's hard, but it fixes my problems immediately. If there is no one around to bet me that I can't hiccup, I always go with drinking the water.

I hate, loathe and despise when people try to scare the hiccups out of me. It makes me want to punch someone.

Most times, when I get the hiccups, Husby looks at me and starts yelling, "HICCUP! HICCUP! I SAID HICCUP! HICCUP WHITNEY! HICCUP!"

And then I hiccup.

He doesn't understand that method doesn't work.

I read about a guy that had the hiccups for 68 years straight. From 1922-1990. Talk about frustrating. I can't imagine. I think I might go bonkers and have to be put in the nut house. I don't like the hiccups.

But I do like when Levi gets them. His hiccups are precious.

Hiccup is a funny word.

  3. I can go like a year without having the hiccups and then I'll get them every day for a week! It's so weird. There's only 1 remedy for me--a spoon full of peanut butter. I'm not kidding! It's NEVER not worked for me! Plus it's yummy ;-)

  9. When I was pregnant Logan always had the hiccups...and if they have the hiccups in your womb they will also have it when they are born.

I felt so bad for Logan because he kept hiccuping after he ate but the Dr. said it doesnt really bother the baby.

  12. Once I had a wicked case of hiccups at work. My boss came in and told me that she was sorry but she was going to have to let me go. I sat at my desk in pure shock, just looking at her. A few seconds later she asked "Are your hiccups gone? Then you're hired again!"

    Evil I say!

  18. My Jacob had hiccups almost every day and rarely ever after he was born. It was always funny to watch my tummy though.

  19. Amelia got the hiccups yesterday, too. Some women say that it's annoying when their babies get the hiccups but I can't imagine that happening yet. It's nice to know that baby hiccups don't hurt them because their tummy muscles aren't as mature as ours.

  20. The water trick is the only thing that ever works for me. Mine last for a few hours when I get them if I don't do it. Everyone has always made fun of me when they see me do it, too. Glad I'm not the only ones that does it.

  24. Jonathan's grandpa once had a surgery that left him with the hiccups for a few weeks. The only time he wasn't hiccupping was when he was singing, so all down the hall of the hospital you could hear grandpa and grandma singing old hymns together! It was hilarious.
