Taking Chances

Husby and I absolutely love going to shows, concerts, plays…basically any sort of live entertainment. It’s so much better than sitting at home to watch TV or the typical going out to eat and to a movie. We have been to countless things together since we’ve been married and it’s something we want to continue to do always. We love looking up the next performers coming to the venues around us and it never fails that we have the best time together.

Something that we really appreciate about each other is our willingness to explore. If there is some type of play or concert that I really want to attend, Husby always takes sudden interest and ends up enjoying it just as much as me. And I, the same with him. Just because it’s not always the other’s preference of entertainment does not mean we can’t appreciate it. I love that about our relationship.

Monday night, one of my absolute favorite female artists came to our town. Celine Dion. As you know, not many guys are exactly Celine’s biggest fans, but Husby knows how much I love her and got me tickets a year in advance. He accompanied me to the show and I do believe ended up enjoying it just as much as me.

She is incredible. Spectacular. Captivating. Phenomenal. Oh, I love Celine.

Seeing her live made me love her even more. She seems like such a genuinely nice person. Her personality is hilarious. She is beautiful and guys – she can wail! She seriously sounded just as good (if not better) live than on her CD’s. Unreal.

When she opens her mouth, chills run down my legs and arms. It’s no wonder she’s the best selling female artist of all time. She definitely deserves that title.

Our seats were really high up there, but her stage was in the center of the venue so basically every seat was a good one. So many of my friends of all different ages went to the concert that night and as we got there, we started texting each other to see where we were all seated. Come to find out, we were all within 5 sections of each other and we were so close that we could see each other to wave! It was unreal! Out of the thousands and thousands of seats in the place, we were all right there together. So fun.

So yeah. It was a fabulous night. We dined at our favorite hole in the wall Mexican restaurant before the show began and capped the evening off with one of the best concerts I’ve seen. I knew that Husby had 15,032 other things he needed to be doing that night, but instead, he took the time out to join me (and thousands of other women who dragged their husbands) in a fabulous night out. In the middle of the concert, I looked over at Husby as he watched with a hint of a smirk on his face, and realized just how lucky I really am to have a guy like him.

And don’t worry – to repay him for sucking up his masculinity for the evening, I am accompanying him to a concert of his favorite comedian Friday night. It won’t be quite the same as my Celine experience, but as long as I’m with him, I’m sure it will be wonderful.

I think it's so funny you blogged about this, because I was totally flipping channels and our PBS channel in Albuquerque was showing a taping of her show in Vegas! I totally made my hubby watch it! He grumbled, but still did it!

  20. Okay seriously - he needs like an awesome husband award or something. Any man that would cheerfully attend a Celine Dion concert with his wife is incredibly. Yay for your awesome hubby!!!

And I agree with you about Celine - she rocks. The first time I saw her was my senior year in high school and I seriously cried when she first came out on stage.

  21. I totally agree with you on Celine! My husband and I saw her last month in Atlanta and it was hands-down the best concert I've ever seen. While we were driving home the next day (and I was awaking from a nap), I heard G tell his friend on the phone that it was one of the best performances he had ever seen!

Oh, and I am with you on appreciating the husbands--mine goes with me to all kinds of performances and loves them! We got season tickets to the PAC in T-town, and we make a date out of each show. SO FUN!
