Oscar, You're No Grouch!

Every year I joke to Husby that the Oscars are my "Super Bowl". I love them. I watch hours of the red carpet, order a pizza, soak up every word of the show and watch after party coverage until I fall asleep.

It is captivating.

This year, they did not disappoint.

Here are a few of my favorite things about the Oscars 2009.

1. The Swarovski Crystal Curtain. Oh. My. Goodness. Gracious. Sakes. Alive. It was breathtaking. 100,000 crystals dangling and shimmering to make the most beautiful set I have ever seen. I told my Mom and a friend that I wanted it hanging in my house. You may think I'm joking. Oh, I'm not. I have the perfect place for it.

I would hang it here in this arch separating my kitchen from the living room: (and the birthday sign would NOT be there)

Give or take a few crystals, of course. ;)

2. Sarah Jessica Parkers dress. Gorgeous. She said the color of it was called "barely mint". I WANT THAT DRESS. Of course, I would look like a big round york peppermint patty in it right now, but I would save it for after I lose my baby bump. And I would wear it every day for the rest of my life. To the grocery store, on play dates, to Church, to...well, everywhere that I go. And I would never tire of it. Because really - it was ridiculously pretty. But, it was a little too small up top. She needed a few more inches of coverage up there.

3. The Slumdog Success. Okay, I went to the movie because Husby made me. I had it set in my mind that I was not going to like it for several reasons. One, it looked weird on previews. But the main reason was because everyone freaked out for it and I thought they were doing it because it was "the cool movie to like". (I get frustrated with bandwagon jumpers.) I was furious with the Golden Globes because I had not seen it and it won everything. And I had never heard of it. I was not happy. But then I saw it, and as hard as I tried to NOT like it, it didn't work - it was a fantastic film. Really.

4. The musical/dance numbers throughout the show. Loved it. Especially the Beyonce one.

5. Edward Cullen. Need I say more?

  2. The Oscars were simply amazing this year. I haven't seem Slumdog yet, mainly because I have little time to see movies nowadays. I think you'll have to fight me for the curtain;)

  3. I actually watched the whole thing this year, which is unusual for me. I love the fashion and skits!

Loved Sarah's dress, but not the hair. My favorite Kate Winslet won!! I adore her!

And yes, Edward Cullen. Didn't he still look like a vampire? He is a hot, hot boy for sure :)

    Have a great day Whitney!

  5. I think the curtain would look great. It would separate the two from one another. Haha! :) And I didn't watch much unfortunately...I fell asleep! :(

  8. Loved SJP's dress. I just love her! The opening dance/musical number was cracking me up! And most of the dresses that I saw were gorgeous. I'm sure there were a few bad ones, but I didn't see any shown in the coverage I watched. Ty was not excited to watch the red carpet coverage, but I made him. (we were eating dinner while it was on.)

  9. I agree-this year was awesome! Hugh Jackman was a great host-and I also loved SJP's dress-can you believe some are putting her on the "worst dressed" list?? I loved it! (Did not like Reese Witherspoons dress-too black/blue/big)
The Oscars are my Superbowl, for sure!

  11. Oh, Edward. Always dreamy. As is Hugh Jackman! I did love the song and dance numbers, but I wish they would have helped the girls in the Beyonce act out with better outfits. Poor Amanda Seyfried and Vanessa Hudgens just could not hold a candle to Beyonce in that ridiculous getup!

  16. I watched most of it this year, but I had really only seen one of the many movies up for awards this year...I was kind of lost! Next year I need to try harder to get out and see a few more "Oscar-worthy" movies!

  19. We had a few people over to watch the Oscars, and it was a blast! I had no idea Rob was going to be on the show so when they said "Please welcome Robert Pattinson" I gasped and gushed, "Oh, I WILL!" Everyone gave me a weird look. Worth it! (Also, later when it showed him sitting behind someone - I forgot who - he sat perfectly still the entire time. He really IS a vampire!)
