Wow. It is astounding at how much Levi has grown! He is moving constantly and his kicks have turned from little sweet twinges to full blown karate chops! Most people describe their first feelings of kicks as “flutters”, but I never understood that. I never felt a flutter. It was always a twinge. Like when your eye or a muscle twitches, but in your stomach. So girls, for those of you who are not yet preggy, remember that when you are carrying your baby and are so anxiously awaiting your first movement! It will feel more like a muscle spasm in your tummy than anything.
At least, it was that way for me.
Now, though, it feels more like a little person inside my belly pushing and poking at my insides. An incredible feeling.
Anyway.
The other night, the funniest thing happened. Remember how I mentioned that at the Celine Dion concert, Levi was flapping and flailing in my womb ALL night long? Well, the other night Husby surprised me with an old Celine CD that I had been wanting. He was studying so I popped in the ole CD and laid in his office while he continued to study. Well. Levi started freaking out and going absolutely crazy flipping and flopping and jabbing and kicking. It. Was. The. Funniest. Thing. Ever. I hadn’t felt him very much since that morning and I am telling you, as soon as I popped in that Celine CD, he started DANCING! I totally think he recognized her voice. Husby and I were laughing so hard that I was crying.
His kicks are extremely visible now. It looks exactly like an alien trying to fight his way out of my stomach. He loves the right side of my tummy the best because that is where he is always the most visible. The other night, I actually saw him STREEEETCH because my stomach slowly went way out and then went back. It was insane.
Then…yesterday at work, I felt him moving around, so I looked down at my tummy and saw him poking in and out, in and out. I saw it THROUGH my shirt! That’s a big deal, people! I’m telling you…it’s very alien-esque.
In a cute kind of way.
I am not as ravenous as I was a few weeks ago. I keep craving Subway sandwiches with lots of veggies piled on. With lots of black pepper, too.
My back is starting to feel the strain of the extra weight in my mid section. My legs and feet feel it, too. It hurts. This gives me such motivation to never be overweight because it really does affect everything. It’s harder to bend over, to climb up stairs, to shave my legs, to paint my toenails….It’s harder to do anything, really. It’s definitely good to experience this. And I know it will only get more difficult as I continue to grow over the next 17 weeks. It will be interesting to see how I maneuver myself when I am waddling around the house at 37 weeks preggers. Yikes!
He is the size of a papaya! That is so big compared to the poppy seed that he once was. Awww, my growing baby boy. What a love!
And that is what’s going on with me and Levi in this 23rd week of pregnancy.
(I will post a picture next week at 24 weeks. That will be 6 months! SIX MONTHS!)

I always thought it was so cool when a baby would kick or move and you could see it - thats awesome! Glad you and Levi continue to do well!
ReplyDeleteMaybe he kicks when he hears Celine because he DOESN'T like the music. Just consider it, okay? (I am just kidding, of course.)
ReplyDeletethat's so cute! i love the dancing story. he's already a big fan of celien! and he's going to be a very active baby! can't wait to see pics of your growing belly!
ReplyDeleteThat is one of the things I miss the most about babies and pregnancy. My babies never really hurt me, so it was always just fun to watch them move around. I always tell people to enjoy pregnancy just because of that! My oldest always went crazy when I ate oranges, which I did everyday!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see pictures!!
ReplyDeleteAWWWW...LOVE the fact that Levi is responding so well :)
ReplyDelete~Elyse~
OH how exciting! I cant wait to see pictures of your little boy!
ReplyDeleteWow, time is flying by- six months already! Sounds like Levi is healthy and active, which is a wonderful thing! I hope you continue to be blessed in this journey!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's been almost 6 months~ whew!! Not too much longer to go. I cannot wait to see more pics!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool that you can feel him move inside. Right now,I feel the "flutters" or "twinges" as you put it. It's weird to think that they were once the size of a pinto bean and now they're bigger than a lemon!
ReplyDeleteBaby Levi has good taste in music!
I'm so sad I missed the e-mail yesterday telling me that he was moving. Next time you will have to call me. I want to see!!
ReplyDeleteI love that he is dancing to Celine!
I've felt baby girl twice on the outside but DH was downstairs both times and hasn't felt her yet. I'm only going to be 21 weeks on Thursday so I think I have a few weeks before I can see her on the outside. Maybe longer. I just want DH to feel her kick!
ReplyDeleteI remember feeling my kids move for the first time; nothing like it. Enjoy your pregnancy...and the cravings!
ReplyDeleteThat's funny that he kicked when he heard Celine.
ReplyDeleteWhen my brother and I were in the NICU, my mom played music for us. The doctors said that music was good for babies. She said we loved it.
When I was pregnant I would just lay in bed at night staring at my stomach waiting to see her kicks. That is so fun isn't it? I also remember thinking, like you, "I never wanna be overweight after this, this is too hard on my body!" Towards the end of my pregnancy I could feel my stomach touching my legs when I sat down and it made me all sweaty....let's hope you don't get as big as I did! :)
ReplyDeleteI think it is so cool when you can actually see the baby kicking at your tummy!
ReplyDeleteYou've got a dancer on your hands!
I can't believe next week is 6 weeks!!! Can't wait to see pictures!
ReplyDeleteWhat an ADORABLE blog!!
ReplyDeleteIt so seems like just the other day that you made the big announcement on the blog! Time flies!
ReplyDeletehahaha! little alien Celine-lovin Levi. that is hilarious! you need to film it sometime!!
ReplyDeleteHow neat! I bet it is amazing feeling and seeing little Levi move!
ReplyDeleteI love it that your baby dances to Celine:)
ReplyDeleteI can't even imagine how cool all of this must be!! Almost 6 months already!?! How awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool Whitney...I loved it when my kids kicked and punched. But boy, I sure missed that when I delivered them!
ReplyDeleteHugz,
Michele
I was wondering exactly what it felt like when the baby first kicks.. I cant wait to feel my babY:) do you have an ultrasound at every apt? I have my next one Monday.. and I will be 12 weeks.. and wondering what all they will do.. cant wait for a belly pic:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for describing the first kicks...never heard it said like that before. Interesting! Can't wait to see pics! Time is flying by!
ReplyDeleteOk, so Charles and I liked to play tag with the babies. You push (lightly, it doesn't hurt them) and they push back. It's a lot of fun to do.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it crazy! My belly just keeps stretching...
ReplyDeletewhat a weird feeling!!! I can't wait to feel that, but that won't be for quite some time :/ I love stories of being able to SEE baby poking through! I work with a lady who while pregnant was teaching class, and she said all of a sudden all the kids went, "OOhhh! Your stomach just moved!" lol how funny!!!
ReplyDeleteHi I found your blog through another that I read and I read alot of your posts. It was fun reading and I want to continue! =) I can't wait to be preggo and have all those feelings.
ReplyDeleteBeing able to see the baby's movements was always so fun for us too. It was particularly fun to watch the faces of my husband's friends. Priceless!
