Supper.

Guess what I had for supper last night?

A big juicy steak with garlic butter and onion strings on top? Nope.

Sizzling chicken fajitas with lots of onions and peppers? Nope again.

One of the fabulous soup recipes that you wonderful people sent to me? Nope. Not last night.

Give up?

A smoothie!

After getting up from the couch after a quick after work nap and readying myself for Bible study, I took a detour to the bathroom and spent the next twenty minutes hugging the toilet. Needless to say, I skipped out on Bible study and spent the rest of the evening on the couch. Nothing at all sounded appealing, so I asked if Husby would make me one of his world famous smoothies.

It was exactly what the Doctor ordered. YUM! The perfect supper for a preggy sickie.

A Smoothie For One

First you take some frozen strawberries and peaches and throw them in a blender.

Then add a few scoops of strawberry yogurt and a few swigs of orange juice and get to blending.

Break out the little bear and add some honey!

Pour in a glass and serve to the one you love.

Yummy. 'Twas delish.

And so far, I have kept it down. Three cheers for Whitney!

I will leave you with a question. As I was enjoying my delightful smoothie, I noticed something rather strange and thought I would ask you if you know the answer.

How come when you look into a spoon, it shows your reflection upside down....but when you turn it around and look at your reflection, you are right side up!? So strange.

Sorry you were barfing-that is the worst! I only had it with my last one (of three) and I thought for sure that meant I was having a girl...I bought PINK clothes! (I had a third-but wonderful-boy...)

  18. Sorry you felt ill....it will get better. The smoothie looked delish and very refreshing...I want one now.

I used to eat saltines and drink Sprite (even though I dont like any type of soda) but it seemed to help.

  19. First of all, the smoothie looks delicious! Yummo! Secondly, never even thought about the spoon thing. I will have to test that out. Thirdly, sorry bout the toilet hugging. Too bad you had to miss Bible study! Love ya!

  20. Oh no, the morning sickness has arrived! At least you could hold down that yummy smoothie!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Just wanted to add my congratulations to you and your husband on your wonderful news. I was so excited for you when I read you were expecting.

I had quite bad morning sickness when I was expecting my daughter. I found those travel sickness bands (they're called Sea Bands in England, maybe they have the same name over there?) helped with the worst of the nausea. They didn't get rid of it completely, but they definitly helped.

The sickness will be over soon enough and before you know it your precious child will be in your arms. Enjoy being spoilt during this special time.

  22. Yummy looking smoothie you have there (and such a sweet husby!)
Hope you pass through the nauseous phase quickly :)

  23. Such a good idea! I've been enjoying a dinner of saltines and Sprite for several weeks now. Maybe I should switch over to smoothies...

    Thanks for the idea!

  24. so...you're having evening sickness? :)

  25. No fun! But thank goodness for sweet hubbies.

  26. you'd think i was pregnant by the way i eat... :) for dinner i had.... about 2 huge chunks of fresh french bread with butter. YUM. it was delish. that with a great book? oh, i am in heaven! i think i'll have the same tonight with some plain chicken broth... mmmm.... and rent an oldie but goodie movie.... i'm so excited to get home!!! :)

oh and i've always wondered about the spoon thing too! is it bc one side is convex, the other concave?

and a question for you! what are some of your favorite-of-all-time movies? i ask bc i'm home alone tonight (husby as you say is working late again) and i don't want to be lonely!

    ReplyDelete
  27. God love fabulous husbands! God sure blessed you with a keeper! :)

As for the whole spoon thing, its all about lens and mirrors, it's the shape of the spoon and that changes the way light reflects off it, thus the way your image is reflected. That's about as technical as this little English major can be.:)

Oh, how I long to be your pregnancy partner! :) I'm ready, but my husby isn't yet. I've got to pray for patience! And thanks your play by play of early pregnancy, I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Well congrats on being pregnant! That is so exciting! I am with you on the meat thing...it sounded gross to me in the first trimester too. Smoothies were always good because they are filling but have nothing "gross" in them to make you feel sicker! Feel better!

  35. That does sound yummy, yay for your sweet Hubby :) My Hubs used to make smoothies all the time, I should probably get back into it! That steak sounds good too though, when I was preggers I crave meat (burgers!) like nobodys business! :) I guess my body is saying pass the iron :) I hope you have less of a relationship with the toilet very soon!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I hope you are feeling better today:) I don't know the answer to your question but I'm going to go look at myself in a spoon!

    ReplyDelete
  37. The smoothie looks yummy! What a nice husband you have. I don't know about the spoon thing.

  38. so sorry about the "morning" sickness. I always thought that was a funny expression, since mine was pretty much all day... My friend gave me a great piece of advice, try eating something every 2 hours. Nothing big, just to have something in your stomach all the time. It worked pretty well for me. Just remember, this too will pass!

    ReplyDelete
  39. You notice the most bizarre things! I'm so sorry that the yucky tummy has already set in. Yeah for pregnancy :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. That looks great! I miss having a blender...back on the list now for a someday want....right now I'm working back the large food processor LOL~

You crack me up with the spoon! Reminds me of my son who came home today and asked where frogs go in the winter. Of course I had to find the answer for him...which by the way is the dig a hole and hybernate underground...

    ReplyDelete
  41. BTW...the only people I know who got sick in pregnancies had girls ;)

    ReplyDelete
  42. How yummy is that! I love making smoothies but I have not done it in so long!

Hope each day gets better and you feel better!

  43. Ok, the science teacher can answer your spoon question. It has to do with convex/concave and reflection. Concave will always show you upside down! I am so sorry to hear that you upchucked for 20 minutes... Hope you are feeling better.

  44. I was sick - every day for 6 months with two of my four babies...I FEEL YOUR PAIN! Try lemon heads, the candy, and also ginger snaps, they might help you with the queasy belly. Smoothies are great, but sometimes milk wasn't my friend!! Good Luck on your journey to domestic bliss!!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. isn't that a smoothie for TWO? (-:

    ReplyDelete
  46. I am going to try that smoothie!

Weird about the spoon thing...I'll have to check that out!

Btw, I purchased a brookstone sleeping mask last night. I"ve been sleeping so bad the last few nights I decided to give it a try, too bad it won't come for 5-7 days!

this gal is in the same boat as you. go see her. and she is a creator of some sweet apron patterns!

"This (sickness) too shall pass", will pass very quickly for you, my dear.

  48. Ha! This is funny. So whne I was pregnant I always barfed in the morning after breakfast. So I started drinking smoothies becuase if you are going to throw up, barfing a smoothie is not as disgusting as other things you know. I know this is gross but seriously it's the truth. Just keep remembering that feeling disgusting is a sign of a healyth pregnancy and your way of knowing everything is going well. When it does end, it's from one day to the next and you almost can't even imagine you ever felt like that.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Well, Whitney, have I got a surprise for you! I happen to have several ring pops in my closet that I don't want to give to my kids (they eat too much sugar as it is!) I will try to remember to bring them to church on Sunday and you can add them to your candy dish!
