FUN Goals

My goals are definitely not those of a typical 25 year old girl. I know that it is unlikely that I will achieve ALL of these goals in my lifetime, but working towards them keeps me creatively driven and occupied.

And a girl whose Husby is a Medical Students needs all the occupation she can get. HA!

These are not all of my life goals, because some are more personal than others. These are just a few fun ones that might surprise you about me.

In no particular order, here are some of my fun goals!

1. I want to be a background singer. Ever since I can remember, I have sung harmony with all songs, and always noticed the cool little parts the background singers do. I have absolutely zero desire to be the “front man” of a CD, but would do anything to sing back up for someone.

2. I want to sing a jingle for a commercial. I am a commercial-jingle-freakazoid. I love them with all of my heart, and sing them entirely too often.

3. I want to be in the Pillsbury Bake-Off. SO BAD. It has been a national contest since 1949, and it just the neatest thing ever. I watch it religiously when it airs each year. They provide you with your own oven, bowls, spoons, ingredients – basically everything you need, and you make your signature recipe to be judged. I don’t care if I win; I just want to BE in it. I am brainstorming recipe ideas so that I can enter sometime, hopefully soon. They have 4 or 5different categories you can enter in and it looks like SO much fun.

4. I want to write and publish a book. I love to write. Love it. I could write all day if you would let me. It is such a release of self-expression. I have always been a writer, whether it be in a journal, a notebook, on a napkin or in a blog! I like to keep a notebook of some sort with me, so that when I have a hankerin’ to write, or have a good idea, I can jot it down. I was born to a family full of gifted writers, and I want to represent that gift by writing a book.

5. I want to be on Family Feud. I am ridiculously good at this game, and I think my family would have so much fun on there!

6. I want to open an online store. I have brainstormed some fabulous things that I think people would love! Or at least, I would. I am working on bringing those things to life and sharing some of my creations with the world!

What are some of your fabulously fun goals? Please share!
I am a modern day homemaker with a passion for family, cooking, celebrating, decorating, travel, and memory making! The Lord has blessed me with the desires of my heart in my husband and our two sons. We recently built our dream home and cultivating a loving and happy haven for my family is where I find so much joy.

  1. I've been browsing blogs and am glad I came upon yours. It's nice to see other twenty-somethings with the same kind of goals, etc., that I have!

I share some of your goals- such as to write a book and sell items I've created online. Neither have been started yet, but that's why they are goals. :)

I'll be coming back to read your blog!

  2. I love this! I've always wanted to be a background singer, too. My whole family is like the von Trapps. We constantly are harmonizing and it's so much fun. When I saw James Taylor in concert in the 6th grade I fell in love with his background singers.

Everyone says I'm crazy that I have no desire to be the front man (woman), but I don't want the fame. I just want to sing those awesome songs.

    LOVE THIS! :)

  3. How fun! I would love to own a tea room some day or a little boutique!

  4. I love the Family Feud too! I would love to write a children's book!

I hope all your goals come true.. and I hope you open an online store that we can see all the goodies that you will have to offer!

    Have a great weekend!

  5. This is too cute! Background singer huh? That's awesome. If I could sing I would join you :)

  6. Your dream of being on Family Feud could be coming true sooner than you thought! Maybe we should meet Monday night to brush up on our skills! My fun goal/dream would be to own a cute little boutique next door to Ty's practice. I keep telling him that people could come shop while waiting for an appointment with him. Isn't that a great idea?? Maybe we can make D and T go into the same specialty and the same practice and we can own a little boutique that has a nursery in the back for our 20 children!

  7. Pillsbury Bake Off, huh? Well, I don't know if it's a goal (per se) for me, but I would be happy to be your "test taster" before the bake off.;)
I totally rock at test tasting.;)

    God Bless,
    Amy:)

  8. You have such fun goals! I want to be at the bake off too. Maybe we can meet there:) I have some friends that have gone and they had just a fabulous time. I enter cook offs and there are many other good ones. If you are interested check out this site www.recipecontests.com. They have listings of all kind of cook offs.

  10. Hmm - fun goals...

I would love to open a spa. I think it would be a lot of fun to run a spa and creat a warm and relaxing atmosphere for people to come and be pampered.

I also would love to run a quaint, little coffee shop/bookstore. I love bookstores!

My most important goals though kind of contradict these 2 because I really just want to be a stay at home mom and raise kids, cook, clean, and be the wife my hubby needs.

  11. What a fun post!! I love it!

I think you should go for the bake off! How much fun would that be?

This is so random, and not really a goal, but I've always wanted to learn how to blow glass. I think it is so cool! There are places that do lessons for a day and I would love to find one!

One of my goals is to plan weddings, even if it's just for friends and nothing professional. I just loved doing mine!

    ReplyDelete
  12. YUM!!! This sounds great!! I can't wait to try this!!

  13. How fun!!! Go for the BakeOff! A lady I work with has been entering cooking contests for the last 10 years or so and she's won cars and $$ and all kinds of stuff! She was in the Pillsbury BakeOff but didn't win the entire thing, I think she won best cookie or best dessert or something, in any event, it's been great for her.

I'll think of my "fun" goals and will come back to post them!

  16. Lol! When I watch Family Feud (or any game show for that matter), my stomach ties up in knots and I get all anxious and even the remotest thought of being on TV!

Nah, I'm much more the write a book type. :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Whitney, I truly believe that you will accomplish all of these.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I've always wanted to go on Family Feud!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I secretly harbor First Lady ambitions. First Lady of what, I'm uncertain of, but since my husband refuses to run for office this may be irrelevant. Similar to the background singer idea, I don't actually want to be the one in the line of fire - just the one who gets to be a professional volunteer and wear cute clothes.

I vote for your entering the Pillsbury Bake-Off - I actually used your maple pumpkin cheesecake recipe the other day, and it is incredibly yummy.

  20. Oh my gosh, I NEED to be on Family Feud!!! Seriously. I would be awesome!! Let's get together and do a "Medical students versus their wives" edition of Family Feud!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Love it! Your list is really fun and creative!

    ReplyDelete
  22. What a great list! I too love watching the Pillsbury Bake-Off!

One of my main goals is to work towards becoming a professional photographer.

    ReplyDelete
  23. You list is great! Writing things down is said to be very important to achieving goals. I don't really have any goals like that...

    ReplyDelete
  24. You are an awesome writer, I could definately see one of your books going far!
Family Fued, we love to follow along and guess the answers as fast as we can..
Good luck on all your goals!

  25. Hi, I linked over from "Life as it is..." and I heard about your friends Lindsay who is battling breast cancer. I run a cancer project and I am wondering if I can be of help. I hope you will check out my blog and the boxes that I make for cancer patients. Let me know if I can help or if you are interested!

  26. I too have a childrens' book I want to get published (I wonder if most bloggers could say this!! LOL).

I want to have more time for making things to stock up my Etsy store

I want to get my craft room organized enough so I can work in there!

I want to get in good enough shape that I can ride my bike to my sis's house 200 miles away.

I'd like to get my shop featured in a magazine.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'd read your book:) And I'd watch you on the bake off:) AND root for you to win!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I could go for the same goals -minus the singing part. That would never work. The baking one might be difficult too since cookies and cupcakes from a box are my best efforts. But the publish a book is sitting right up at the very top of my list, along with having my own business. :) And of course... having children and being a stay at home soccer mom!! :)

You've got a cute blog! Thanks for letting me visit!

    ReplyDelete
  29. We have some of the same goals. Writing a book is definitely up there for me too. Recording a CD of the songs I've written - not to be famous, just to do it. And get out of debt - though getting in is the fun part, it's the getting out that isn't!

I love the Pillsbury bake off - I'd be happy to taste the goodies and tell you if was award winning or not. (o:

    ReplyDelete
  30. I know some people submit 20 or 30 recipes in all categories to the bake off, you should do it! Onw will get chosen!

My goal was to plant a vineyard and start a winery, it has taken me twelve years but I'm there.

  31. Cute!! I would like to have a book of my dreams. I dream vividly & usually remember with good details - I should start writing them down...they'd be a fun, scary hoot!
    Loved the topic!

    ReplyDelete
  32. You make me smile! I love you wanting to sing a jingle! Your blog is so great! I would say that I would never want to sing a jingle! Ha Ha. I love the online store too, now I would love to do that too, and not a free one, but my very own!

    ReplyDelete
  33. those are wonderful goals! I think i share a few of them, for sure! Family Fued would be a blast, no doubt.
I will wait not-so-patiently for your first book. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. You should definitely do all of those things! Have you ever watched the pillsbury bake-off on The Food Network? It looks like a ton of fun! You should go for it. Even if you don't win it would be cool just to say you did it! :)

  35. Can A BLOG FAMILY submit a team. If so count me in for family feud... I so love that game.

    ReplyDelete
  36. This is so fun! I wanted to write a post about this too! If you're the back up singer, I'll be one of the back up dancers! I have researched a lot too about opening an online store! And you are great writer! Cute post!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I loved reading your fun goals. I have so many...and they are constantly changing! Goal-setting keeps me majorly motivated.

  40. Stop by my blog tomorrow-you are mentioned...

  41. what a fun post and great blog!
i'm with you on the bake-off, i'd love to enter one day.

    ReplyDelete
  42. You're funny, Whitney! Those goals are so quirky - well, most of them. I, too, would like to write a book, and I'm thinking that the Lord has now given me a topic. You should write about your journey with medical school. You've got your own little burden to bear :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hello W. It's Spencer. I like your blog (even though it's a little girly). I submitted you to stumble so you may or may not start getting some heavy traffic. I hate that I never talk to you anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hmm you could run the online store if I can run the mortar store!

Mr. Newlywed and I were talking last night about how I want to open a gift shop by the time I am 40.
