From the day we got married, I always played "pregnant". My excuse for not wanting to do something was always, "but I'm pregnant!", and any time I wanted a donut or ice cream cone, it was a "pregnancy craving".

Husby just rolled his eyes and laughed at my silly ways, but now - I have a legitimate excuse. I really AM pregnant! (It has gotten me a LOT in this past week from ole Husby.... heehee).

(Here I am 2 years ago with a pillow shoved up my shirt, playing the ole pregnancy card!)

I know that I am only a little over 5 weeks along, but let me tell you, I am T-I-R-E-D. All I want to do is sleep. All the time. All day long. I read in a pregnancy book that I bought, that in your first tri-mester, your body is doing more work on the inside, than if you had just run a marathon! Crazy to think about, isn't it?

Baby Lovie is a wearin' me out. But it's okay. I love Baby Lovie.

This week, Baby Lovie is the size of an apple seed! His heart is the size of a poppy seed. So sweet.

This apple seed looks huge, but Baby Lovie definitely isn't. I was on a website today that told me different life events and what year it would be when Baby Lovie went through them. For example - he will get his drivers license in 2025. That seems insane to me.

(I say "he" because it is easier to keep writing he/she - k?)

Mom is going to be called "Glamma" - how hilarious is that?! Ya know, like glamorous? Oh, she makes me laugh.

Thank you ALL so much for the sweet congratulations you sent my way. It was amazing to read them all. You guys are the sweetest. I couldn't be happier to share this experience with all of you. Now, thrown in to the mix of crazy stories, decor, recipes and other fab things on my blog, will be my hilarious pregnancy happenings. I can't even imagine what we will run in to! Oh dears -this is really happening! :)

  2. That picture is too cute!! You have a lot more to look forward to other then being tired. Peeing all the time, breast tenderness, even weirder dreams then before, vomiting, and if your lucky increased sex drive!! Stay healthy the next months your body will be making all the Lovie's important organs. Sleep as much as you can cause later in your pregnancy you will be sleeping very little. Also if you have an big home projects that need finishing do it now so you are not stressed when the baby comes. I was so happy that I organized my whole house and gave unwanted things to good will before we had Cute Pants it made things less stressful and more stream lined.

  4. With Baby #2 I was tired ALL the time!!! I am known for never falling asleep before midnight but that pregnancy you were lucky to get me up past 7! Its actually what prompted me to get a preggers test! It gets better around month 5...I know it sounds far off but you;ll be there before you know it!

  5. I can't wait to read and hear all about your pregnancy over the next 8 months or so! I am SO excited even though I don't know you all that well. I just know how you have wanted this and that just makes me so excited and I cannot wait to hear all about everything and anything (cause I know you will share it all!)

Are you going to do the belly pics for us all to see? When I get pregnant, I want to start like the day I find out, just so one day I can look back and say that my stomach really did look like that at one point in my life! haha And I think it is so fun to see one's progression over the months.

Oh and one request - if you read any really good books, please pass them along. I know when I get pregnant I will be reading a lot about babies so some suggestions would be great!

Thanks and take care - how are you feeling other than tired?

  6. Haha, your "pretending to be pregnant" thing made me laugh! My husband plays that game, pretending that I'm pregnant. He'll put his hand on my stomach and say "kick! kick!" (For the record, I have a flat stomach. I just felt the need to say that so it wouldn't sound like he was mocking me for being overweight or something.)

being tired is so normal but you get serious bursts of energy in the second trimester (so do all shopping then!). Tired again is third and then a huge burst before BABY.

  26. Those of us who have known the "pretend" pregnancies are so thrilled that this one is for real! You are going to have so much fun. I always wished that I had started a journal to my babies when I found out I was pregnant with each one. Maybe you should have a blog where you ask everyone what one thing they wish they had done so you can see if you want to do any of them. Just an idea.

  27. They say that being pregnant is like going mountain climbing every day! That's how hard your body is working! So take that nap...you need it!
And I am in love with your mother...glamma...that's the best!

  33. I recently found out that I'm pregnant, too! I'm 7 weeks along, so we're about at the same point. I know exactly what you mean about the tired thing. I sleep all the time now! I've always been a big napper, but this is different. I feel like if I don't sleep, I will die.

Are you feeling queasy yet? I am crossing my fingers you aren't. It is the pits!

Glad to have someone whose going along the same path with me! :)

  37. "the switch" as in a new blog site...not as in "the switch" to pregnancy. Just to be clear.....! ;)

  38. All I did was sleep the first trimester & have had serious heartburn all throughout. Didn't get nauseated unless I was hungry, which is why I think I've already gained 40 lbs. The second trimester was easier sleepiness wise, but still had heartburn & such. Now, I'm so exhausted & walk really slow :-) I feel like a beautiful whale. Eating is my favorite past time, I hope it's yours too!! Ice cream, cereal, salads & tomatoes -YUM! & I think my doctor knows my voice on the phone by now. I'm one of those paranoid pregnant ladies. I hope you journal & take weekly pictures, I'm so happy I've done that religiously :-)

Anyway, I'm SO thrilled for you. I told Mike & he sends his congrats too.

  39. 4 kids later and I'm still feeling the twinges of envy whenever I hear someone else is pregnant.

Congratulations on your little miracle. I have a feeling you are going to enjoy every step of the way. Enjoy it. No matter how many more times you become a mommy (and it will feel special each time they hand you your baby) there is just nothing like going through your FIRST pregnancy with your husband.

    Congratulations again!

  40. Glamma! I love it. I have never heard the size of a baby described in such an adorable way. Poppy seeds and apple seeds...sigh...Congrats again!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I love it! And it is soo true Whitney, your description of wanting or not wanting something because your pregnant! I LOVE that! I need to eat it, I'm pregnant! I want it, I can have it, I need to eat, I'm pregnant! Haha, so much fun! Hope your feeling well other than being tired, don't feel bad about sitting down sometimes...you're growing a baby! I have some questions for you about guns!
