Celebrate Good Times - COME ON!

In my family, we don't have birthDAYS, we have birthWEEKS. We celebrated big all week long and I am sad to say that yesterday was the last of my celebrations (until August 22nd --- but more on that later).

Wanna see?

First of all, since I am in the big, bad work force, my mom always makes sure that I have something lovely sitting proudly on my desk on special occassions. She had this beautiful bouquet sent to me Thursday.

Can you tell what this is?

What about from this angle?

Give up?

It's a PURSE made entirely from FLOWERS!

It was absolutely and utterly exquisite! I was floored.

And decided that I want to be a florist if I get to make cool stuff like this.

Nevermind the fact that mine would turn out looking like some sort of mishapen blob-o-mountain instead of a purse, but hey - it's the thought that counts.

Right?

She also had THIS sent to me:

from here.

Carnegie Deli Cheesecake. Whew.

If. You. Have. Never. Had. Cheesecake. From. Here. Log. Onto. Their. Site. And. Order. One. This. Very. Minute.

I mean it.

It is blow-your-taste-buds-clear-off-your-tongue-and-out-of-your-head fantastic. She has ordered me one every year since we visited NYC and fell head over heels in LOVE with the cake-o-cheese. Thank you sweet mommy.

Husby carefully cut a slice for everyone.

We topped it with a fantastic raspberry sauce seen in the picture above, but later discovered putting fresh peaches and strawberries on it was amazing as well. Yum. Yum.

And don't think you won't gain at least 20 lbs. per slice. Because I promise you will. That is why I gained 60 pounds this weekend. It wasn't pretty.

Aww. Momsy even brought cups with my initial on them. How fun is she?

She also brought this:

Wowza!! It's GOLD! It's a purse! It's adorable! I was in love.

Until I had to take my knife and kill it. Moment of silence, please.

It was chocolate with raspberry filling. Are you noticing a trend here? Raspberries, purses...

Anyway - it was a lovely weekend with some fabulous celebrations.

And birthday is officially over.

  3. Remember when we just happened to stumble into Carnegie? And then we created our classic laughter pictures? And then our waiter broke out into "Oklahoma"? And then we had to leave? And we were sad? Let's go back. With the husbands. OK?

  8. Oh how lucky you were! I love the cake, I don't know if I could have eaten it--it was so pretty! Glad you got spoiled for your birthday week, I celebrate mine the whole week too. When I was younger I would tell my mom she couldn't make me do my chores because it was my birthday-week. Sadly, none of my family celebrated the whole week with me ;)

  9. Your mom is so sweet and thoughtful!!! We are about three hours from Seattle, and I think we are only about an hour from the Roloff farm! You can stay with us next time you come and you can visit the farm :)

  16. I see a CAKE theme! :) Yum! I'm trying to talk my husband into taking me to NYC around the holidays. I have so many great childhood memories of NYC around Christmas. My grandparents used to live within driving distance of NYC so we'd go there sometimes. It's so much fun!
