Faith.

I am a Christian.

I have known and loved Jesus Christ since a young age in my life. I am beyond grateful that I came to know Him so early because He has definitely guided and steered my life in just the right direction for me, while I get to sit back and watch Him work. It sure does take a lot of pressure off, knowing that He is guiding my decisions and the direction that my life takes, and it’s not all on me. Because if it was all on me, I’m sure it would just be a chaotic disaster.

And I would be a neurotic basketcase.

God has made Himself so real in my life, especially the older I become and the different things I face. When I moved away from my parents and got married, my relationship with God shot up to a whole other level; I was more dependent on Him and sought after Him more. The “safety” that I always felt with my parents suddenly disappeared as husby and I found ourselves totally dependent on the Lord for our needs, decisions, plans…everything. And He has been extremely faithful to provide time and again for us, in ways I can’t even begin to tell. It floors, astounds, and leaves my jaw hanging on the floor every time, though I am never surprised.

Sometimes, things come up and husby and I sit and think – “Hmmmm…how is this going to work, or what on earth are we going to do, or crud – this is the last thing we need right now…” And that is where faith steps in. We are reminded over and again at what He has done for us in the past and His perfect timing for absolutely everything we have done – from husby and I meeting, to marriage, to Medical School, to building a house – just so many testimonies about God’s hand hovering over our lives, both together and separately, and the incredible stories of complete provision that leaves us speechless (and it’s pretty hard to leave me speechless. I have the gift of gab). It gives us such peace to know that no matter what pops up unexpectedly in this life, that He has a plan and a purpose for it. And mostly, that HE allowed it to happen, no matter good or bad. I can’t comprehend how people survive without the Lord – honestly!

When you are on the verge of making a decision or choosing a new path that will alter the course of this life, it is sometimes scary to jump in and do it. It is too easy to leave things alone and keep them the same, but with the Lord I find myself becoming more and more courageous. I just love life, and I love the new curves and twists that come with it. It is definitely an adventure, and I don’t want to miss out on a thing! How sweet and comforting to know that in addition to my loving and best friend husby, I have my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ walking right along side me, helping, loving and growing me up to become more like Him every day.

I pray that you know Him, too. What a priviledge.
I am a modern day homemaker with a passion for family, cooking, celebrating, decorating, travel, and memory making! The Lord has blessed me with the desires of my heart in my husband and our two sons. We recently built our dream home and cultivating a loving and happy haven for my family is where I find so much joy.

  1. It is a privelegde that we should all take more advantage of, myself included.

Just curious about what religion you are. Morman?

  2. I'm so thankful that I was able to grow up knowing the Lord. Although my parents were not always going to church, I was able to go with my grandparents, who used to be youth pastors. Then a few years after my parents were saved, they were youth pastors. Now here I am, married to a youth pastor! It's in my blood. I love that I don't know what my future holds in the ministry, and am excited to find out where we will wind up.

  4. OK - this is weird - I came across your blog by accident - your "title" intrigued me so I started reading...The weird thing is, you and I are VERY similar. I do not blog but I LOVE reading them...but anyway, I am 24, have been married for 2 years, work 45 hours a week while I long for the day to be a stay at home mom...I just got reading your posts because it was like me talking...haha...too weird but just wanted to say "Hey" and I enjoy your sight. Oh and I love the Lord also - (to make mention of your recent post).

  5. I too have had the priveledge of being a Christian from a young age. I'm so thankful that I have been because I am a worrier and knowing that the Lord is in control of everything is so comforting to me. I can't imagine having gone through some pretty major times in my life without Him and the peace that He brings to my life.

  6. This is encouraging. I get caught up a lot thinking of ways to handle things myself, and making myself worry WAY more than I should--if I had just spent more time in prayer things could have gone a lot smoother. Enjoy your weekend!

  7. What a great post. I've had my ups and downs with my faith, but no matter where "my" faith is, I do know that God is always patiently waiting.

  8. It is amazing how much our faith can grow given hard situations and lack of past security (parents, etc). I know that being married to Eric my faith has grown so much, having to trust God together as God brings us closer to Himself. If we stick together and trust God together during hard times, we are always better people on the other side. God is faithful in refining us as we journey together toward Him. Good post Whit.

    "Fear looks and Faith jumps"
God is so good girl! I know that I have only seen the beginning of His goodness and blessings in my life :) I know that the same is true for you also!
